Firestik SS-204A mount it's for a door jamb but I flipped it around for this.. the point was to offset the tailight so a cop can't say I'm blocking my lights.
My vote would be center of cab roof - permanent or mag mount. I didn't feel like punching a hole in mine so I used a mag mount.
Tip was around 13'
Worked very well. In my case, the dual coil tuned better than the single coil.
If my 480HX couldn't get through, I had a 10 meter pile up buster in the tool box.

Shade my Stryker is a Mag mount , magnet is strong for sure but not like the Dr's ! Believe it or not my other antenna I had was & old RS mag mount I got from the trash ! SWR's were good so I went w/ it . After a few years I started looking to upgrade as I figured running 250w through that RS one day it was gonna shoot off my roof like a Rocket ! All above mentioned are good antenna's ! I was leaning towards a Sirio but saw the way the Stryker was made w/ the cap screws & such I went w/ that & I have no complaints . When I bought it they were all about the same $ . Just a roll of the dice ! But I'm happy w/ mine . 73 & God Bless , Leo

No antenna will beat a properly mounted 108" 1/4 whip...no antenna period. Now if its not properly mounted then all bets are off. Have a look here for mobile antenna help - www.k0bg.com
Ditto ! At the time I didn't feel like drilling a hole in My Explorer , but since some scum bag creased my rear quarter last week ( hit & run ) it's a whole different Ball Game ! Might get that Greenlee Punch out & have @ it !

Used to have a ss 108 ball mounted (breedlove) rear quarter.. best mobile antenna I ever ran.. kicked ass. Go for it!
Had one mounted like that on the side of my Old Ford Van & on my Toyota Fj -40 & your right it was Awesome !
All that work and you cheapened out with a mag mount? Shame on you..lol
They will tune the low end of 10 so if you're a Tech you should be fine. Worst case pick up a LDG Auto tuner to clean it up.
