No. That is the electrolytic cap that holds the memory that is failing. The radio probably needs a recap.My HR2600 chipswitch loses memory after a couple days being powered off, would a new chipswitch help?

It took a while, but finally found some blanks that would work. These have been programmed by Bill's Two Way the owner of the Chipswitch technology.It is good to see you have some Roger.

Probably a bad memory capacitor, the 1000uf on the microprocessor board. I would replace both the 1000uf and the 470uf, they are both on the 5v line, also make sure the glue on the caps is cleaned off, it can get conductive and cause that too.My HR2600 chipswitch loses memory after a couple days being powered off, would a new chipswitch help?

Buy all the blanks you can I don't think that chip has been made in about 20 years.It took a while, but finally found some blanks that would work. These have been programmed by Bill's Two Way the owner of the Chipswitch technology.
