BBI amps, anyone heard of them?

Will you be able to post a vid with current draw, voltage and power meter measurements?

Also in your video you mentioned "with this technology" What are you doing that is different from other builders? Using pad on input to present a 50ohm resistive load? High quality input transformers?

PS, I def. like the compact design and fan arrangement. Im also surprised you dont have any tuning issues with the transformers in that close of proximity to some rather substantial metal. I just wonder if the fans will dissipate enough heat. That also depends on the efficiency, hence my interest in volt and current readings.

I can't understand how guys can just make claims that cannot be supported. Running an amp for too long will just destroy it eventually. Duty cycle plays into his amp as much as any other mfr. Unless he is using a heat sink that is 3 ft long, it will improve the duty cycle only somewhat. Guess it just goes to prove that if one can get enough hype started on an internet site, then they can get a lot of free advertisement.

They all use pretty much the same schematic as other mfrs do for these RF devices. The only real difference is the quality of the parts, the biasing, regulation, and input swamping. I mean, we are talking about amps for CB use; not Ham amps. This isn't rocket science here . . .

We have seen his spectrum analyzers on camera, he sets it up so you cant see what it is really doing. Here is a scope video. Boxbuilder, bbi, 6pill key down test. - YouTube

It looks to me like all he is doing with the spec analyzer is looking at the carrier itself. He says he had it as wide as he could get the display but that was just expanding the carrier. It would be interesting to see a wide view of the spectrum to see the harmonics and IMD etc.

scope

He wouldn't show you a real scope shot, It would really show how dirty his boxes are. They are just copies of other peoples amplifiers anyway. The Bird meters show ghost watts and showing the whole spectrum would show how it maybe is doing some large watts but very few of them are on frequency. This guy preys on the uninformed. Seriously, talk to the people in this group that have been taken by his bill of goods. I have learned a lot by talking to these people.

I like how he brags about the power his boxes make but he forgets to mention the pep switch is on..... The guy is a hack. Notice when people comment on his stuff that he runs and hides and won't answer questions from people with more knowledge .

Will stick with my good old fl2100b and al82
Out of curiosity what are you using to drive your 2100 B? I've seen many of them available some in very nice condition for sale on eBay. You so is definitely a reliable name and although I know these amplifiers are old but I've always wanted one. I do know modifications need to be made in order to run a modern transceiver, but I could be wrong. That's why I asked what you're using to drive it. Thanks. 73
