best ever base vertical survey ??

edfiero, I'm pretty sure you can use the SEARCH feature, at the top-right side of the front page, and find a lot more about guys opinions on the best vertical CB antenna.

After years of running different verticals I have come to feel the difference in real world is not huge. May make a bit of difference in DX if you are +1 s-unit in bad conditions but in most cases you will be heard or not heard.

I agree with you Nightowl.
My view of the world's best vertical is the one that works the best at your station , under you contitions, with your terrain, running your power levels.
Everyone's got different problems and advantages in each location.
Hard to pick just one and say thats the one for every situation......

Funny I can hit a lot of stations all over DX land running mobile as much as base and we don’t discuss what’s the best mobile antenna much. Set your station be it base or mobile right and you will talk all over DX land. There is much more to it than an antenna to be heard when others struggle to be heard. Sound “clean” with an audio punch in DX land and you will get more responses than someone with a big beam antenna, more watts and and nasty over driven audio that’s hard to understand what they are saying.

Focus on having the cleanest sounding radio and you will get many responses when you throw out your CQ DX....

Take off angles, antenna gain don’t mean much when radio waves are being twisted all over the ionosphere. As for local contacts, meant a little more when people actually had base and mobile radios, but for the most part local is all but dead in CB land.

NightOwl, I agree.

IMO, what makes most of any differences we might experience, and assuming our rigs are working alright, generally it's Mother Nature that Rules.

My Imax 2000 (old version new from box) is doing 10/11/12/15and 18 at a push with tuner for 18 meter.
You have to look at the antenna system as one, antenna, coax and connectors as a whole.

You can pick top of the line antenna suited for your purposes and waste it by chosing the wrong coax and connectors.
