Big strapper...big hammer

no idea why you quoted me, I never disputed that, only that it was legal to run all the watts you want.

I guess you TOTALY missed the point where Tallman said "his license allows.....". That license would of course be applicable to the amateur bands and pertain to amateur power levels. Since CB has no license but is rather a license by rule radio service it should have been quite apparent he was in fact comparing the two different radio services and NOT claiming that his amateur license allowed him to operate on CB with more than 4 watts carrier/12 watts pep.

Why is ham stuff getting brought up in the CB section of the forums to begin with?

Isn't there a ham section?

~Cheers~

Granted the subject has taken a left turn however neither section is exclusive and at times there is a certain amount of cross-over especially when making comparisons. As long as things stay civil things are fine. Perhaps it IS time to return to the original subject matter however.

my subject matter was a bit immature,,,,,i was just remembering the guy that got me into radio...and was really curious about how radios and antennas work...he had a nice station and he was very knowledgeable and still is...I will pick my subject matter better in the future

I guess you totally missed the point where tallman said, in a CB thread in a CB section, that it was legal to run 100 watts. while I did notice he said his general license allowed it on ham bands (did YOU notice I specifically addressed that?), he never clarified that he wasn't allowed to run that legally on 11 meter.
if he believes that he can run 100 watts on CB, why would I not think he believes more wattage is also legal for him to run?

as far as the original post, it's just as pointless and much more subjective than this so, no harm done.

He had no need to clarify that he was not allowed to run 100 watts on 11m since he did not state that he WAS allowed and he said his licence provided for that. CB has no license so it was quite obvious he was not talking about 11m. You simply assumed that was what he meant. I don't know of anyone that has been into radio more than a couple months that believes he can run more than 4 watts legally. You see I see the difference between what someone SAYS and what they do NOT say/ Anyway this has gone well beyond reason here so I am done with it. Assume all you want.

When I run CB I have to follow the the same rules and more strictly than you do. If I get caught with a ham radio talking on CB the penalties are much worse. If I get caught running a CB while running a linear, I would be up the creek with out a paddle.
Yes I do come in to CB land because that's where I got my start back in 1968. I was a CB'er many more years than I have been a HAM. I also help out with trouble shooting antenna, radio, and installation problems. And yes sometimes I help with problems in amplifiers regardless where t hey use them. I don't ask where they are planning to use it. To me that's a "NUNYA".

At what point do you become a "big strapper...big beams and boxes.?? The guy that got me into radio 25 years ago had a moonraker 8 ...and a 6 element V quad...the vquad was only 20ft off ground...but holy crap it talked...he ran tube everything and worked 28 and 6 bowl...MISS THOSE DAYS...and to me he was a big dog

I suppose this would be a good definition of Big Strapper.
when you can talk from San Diego California up to Los Angeles everyday without skip then you are a big Strapper.
