Bloody Hell: Power Line Internet Ruining The HF Band

There use to be a power line here in Houston that rant right next to 59/69 that was like 3 miles long, that if your were within like 4blks you would get 3 or 4 s units of buzzing coming from it. Luckily this has been fixed I have heard it is illegal for power company to transmit a speak on a power line.

mine i coming from a grow house. i used a ht radio to track it. its only 3 blocks away.
i asked him nicely if he could find another way to fix his lighting. because of the interference he told me to go f myself.so time to box up the kenwood. until i move .

Private rocket launch service SpaceX has asked the U.S. government for permission to launch 4,425 satellites in orbit to beam high-speed Internet down to the world, according to a newly filed application with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

I have had issues with the power lines here that are above ground still and every other street is underground!! I have called and even had an RF engineer come out from the power company and told me that their power lines can't interfere with the frequencies I showed him, which included frequencies from the AM radio stations all the way through the 11 meter band. Basically from 300khz to 27.999MHz, and then in different spots along the rest of the freqs my Icom 746 will go to. Same noise on all freqs. Come to find out they did use crap wire and it was causing issues!!! Not sure if they have fixed it, but at times it would be S7 or more in my radio with no pre amp on!! Couldn't listen to the radio at times. Since the hurricane here, I haven't had my vertical up. No noise on the horizontal dipole I just put up though. It wasnt too hard to hear on the last one, but won't truly know if it's resolved until I place my vertical back up. But man I went through hoops and didn't get much results!! Had the Cable Co. out and also the power company and neither really wanted to help. Was some BS. But without my ticket I know I am limited to how much or how far I can take things. At least they did come out and the cable guy did find many bad things with out cable and they did resolve their issues. But FPL power Co. didn't seem to want to help at all. Like I said, they had to replace all the insulators and such here after the hurricane so maybe the noise will be gone or near gone!! I can wish can't I LOL!

A huge corporation walks on the little man once again!
Radio Amateurs and C.B. users in the U.K. need to join forces and make it known that this is illegal & cannot continue. Just because a corporation makes profit doesn't mean they have a right to practically destroy a legal service that (not many) average people will use. : /

The company knows the bands are "underutilized" & that the "normal people" will not raise a fuss about interference as long their wifi continues to work, so they carried on with a blind eye turned. Knowing it was going to harm a legitimate service that people do not have to pay to use. I'm PO'ed about this.

So file a complaint with the FCC and let them fight your battles for you.
