Bulldog Watt meter

For THAT much money - you can easily get a used Bird.
Haven't you heard - that the Bird is the word?
Even Bird watt meters are only good to with-in 5% of full scale.
And you got to spend more money on slugs, and even they need to be calibrated.

I still shake my head at the money that is spent on watt meters...it all get`s relative after a while unless you need to certify a transmitter to comply with a regulation.

True - quite true.
But it is still the best one can get. For a CB op who is interested in finding out if his amp is putting out 500w; I see no pressing need. That amp is more or less going to put that power out. Any junk meter is going to show a relative change and that would be enough if used for the purpose of adjusting modulation. But for a tech who is aligning radios, checking dead key, or PEP (if so modified); then it is indispensable. I could use one myself for that purpose - instead of the Dosy I use now (uggghh/close enough). Or for the Ham op that want to make sure he isn't going over the legal limit - or making sure his tubes haven't gone flat - it makes sense to have and use.

But - Haven't you heard that the Bird is the word?
Ba-baa-baaa Umma mao mao . . .

Those (WERE) nice meters but are (NO LONGER MADE) they were not $500.00 new either. HnY sold them and they didnt have them listed very long. As stated here you could get a nice LPA-100 or TRULINE BIRD meter with the Peak reading board and they still make BIRD meters and LPA meters so parts are atleast stll available ;)

You guys are full of shit, that guy selling that meter is full of shit and I sent him a message saying so. Those meters are $300 new with the remote sensor, $200 without, I Use one everyday in the mobile and never had ANY issues with it on the 16 pill. I know others that use it and they have ALL had the same results. ANY comparison done with it on avg scale vs. a bird always shows it to be nearly dead on. What is on ebay is the first gen units which no longer are made. Carl makes a nice meter for the money and is a helluva guy too. Now will it hold 10k? I'll probably never know and neither will the vast majority of the rest of us, the guys that do run that kind of power already know what they have to have, and generally pl259's dont cut it anyway.

I doubt any of you that are bad mouthing it have never even seen one.
