Callsign Confusion

C2,
If you mean the 'user name', I couldn't care less if that guy uses it. Then again, he may not want to be associated with or mistaken for me! Also, for a suitable remuneration, I could be talked into relinquishing any and all right to it! (Talk him into it, we'll split the take.)

That is what I like about this forum, wether you are CB or ham,you will not be hammered on to hard about being in either hobby, and most are more than willing to share their knowlage (y)

So I decided to Google the callsign I am going to be using and discovered a radio group down here in the Coachella Valley that is called Desert R.A.T.S. (Radio Amateur Transmitting Society). The callsign I am going to use is DesertRatRadio1127. I contacted the president of the club (VE7REZ) and let him know I had concerns over my callsign being confused with their radio group name on the air. Although it will be different bands, I want to avoid this perdicament all together. Was it smart of me to contact the club and advise them of the possible situation?

You need to learn the difference between a callsign and a CB handle, then your confusion will subside.
CB handles are copied all the time and I don't remember anyone killing someone over the theft. There are 3 Psychos within 50 miles of where I live and I could care less even though I took the name FIRST.
You use someone's Call sign and it won't take long for the locals to track you down.
