DTB , there is a small lake I go to called Walker and also I like to go to Howard Lake. Howard is outside of Lock Haven. Where do you go ? By the way I am working in Carlisle at the Dickenson Law School. I saw the Petro. What are your hours ? I'd like to stop and say hello sometime.
Keep me informed what you get there Ron. That same mess is headed for me up here. Overnight Sunday night they were calling for 1-2 inches of snow,we got 12. I think they should have just dropped the - mark between the 1 and the 2. The tribander here is still messed up from the last ice storm we had and I have not been able to climb the tower due to my knee trouble. With this latest and greatest storm everything was coated with a couple inches of ice and snow. The trees look pretty but it scares the he!! out of me when I look at the tower with the Cushcraft A3 tribander, a 6 element 6m beam, an 11 element 2m beam and a couple wire antennas hanging off it as well.It is supposed to hit the low 50's on Thursday so it will clear the antennas. Now if only we do not get a lot of wind before then.
Will do Garth. It has been a steady snow here at my 20 since about 8 this morning. I have the scanner on and there are MANY accidents. CDX-532 (Alicat) was just on the radio and said the roads are horrible with cars off the road and he has to drive a big truck into the Poconos tonight. StoneCrusher (CDX-4540) has to drive a big truck tonight to Jersey. It is supposed to be freezing rain from around 8pm till 8am tomorrow.
Well Garth it is after 10:30am and 28 degrees and still freezing rain here. I tried to drive my 65 miles to work and within 4 miles from home came upon 3 accidents. One was a friend of mine almost at the top of the 2200 ft mountain in front of my place that hit an ice patch with a pickup load of mason stone. He fish tailed head on into the embankment and completely rolled the truck over. He fortunately wasn't hurt. The truck is caved in quite a bit. I stayed with him until the State Police arrived and came back home. So if you get the mess it would be best just to stay indoors.
Thanks for the update Ron. I have good news however. There is a warm front moving in and the snow/ice crap is being pushed further north of us. We are supposed to hit 50-52 degrees tomorrow with heavy rain.At 8:00pm it is already 40 degrees and climbing. That should get interesting after the 18 inches of snow we got since Sunday. I am lucky as I do not have to worry about flooding but there are a lot of folks a bit worried about where all the water is going to go. The towns are out making sure the storm drains etc. are clear in preparation.
Well I made out fine with all the rain on top of the 18+ inches of snow that was on the ground. I say WAS on the ground. The warm temps and rain coupled with a light breeze sure made quick work of the snow. I can't really remember when I saw so much disappear in so little time, literally overnight.I have a river directly behind the house, quite honestly a stones throw from the house, but the banks are steep on my side and gently rising from the flood plain on the other side. When it floods all the water moves up on the other shore thankfully. As for some other towns, one report said they saw an old man leading a bunch of animals two by two.
