Carl Built

20 years ago there were probably a dozen different builders. Davemade, X-Force, Fatboy, No Name, Joker, Cookie Built, Worldwide, SkullCracka, Donkey Stomper just to name several. Today there are not too many options and they are all now handicapped with HG finals. I'm sure Carl or Hopper will do a fine job for anyone in the market.

It pays to due your research before buying an amp
Unless you buy off the shelf one's like rm italy or Texas star
And their is definitely some that are better than others[/QUOTE
What I do with my money is nobody's business. I might also add that I've owned many Texas stars, ect ect in the 30 years I've been on cb. Why does every post on here have to devolve into arguing?

Absolutely its your money, spend it as you see fit. No one was playing a whos best game. There are a few good builders atm who understand HG pills. Carl is one and Hopper is another that folks here have some experience with. Both do good work.
If youre happy with your correspondence with Carl buy from him. No one is arguing.

I am not so sure Donkey Stomper was around 20 years ago, more like 10 years ago.

I have had everyone of the boxes you all have mentioned. BBI is by far the master. And carlbuilt would be my next pick.
The position of "Master" builder has yet to be taken in the CB world. That position will easily be held by the first person to start producing amplifiers using the same RF transistors in 12 volt ham radio equipment (Mitsubishi RD100HHF1). Everything else is hopelessly obsolete, using substandard knockoffs of the original Toshiba.

Why doesn't this master builder use any thermal tracking?
And high swr protection circuit? If all these cb amp builders are so called inovated and pushing the bar why are they not adding these said features that are important and useful in thier amps? If its to hard for these " amp technicians " to figre out, at least copy the circuit from an hf amp.
