I will second that on Dipoles working good for local. My inverted V has given me very impressive performance on the local scene. It's not perfect and yes, I have noticed the polarization difference. But it still works

My son just moved to a place has an attic. Ol’ Dad looking to brave a tall ladder and install an it gets left behind dipole. And a long-wire AM antenna stretched around rafters.

Son gets to learn how to use a fishtape to guide that coax down a plenum. Bound to be an interesting wallplate to use on the interior side at the kitchen desk.

Maybe a TV/FM antenna up there as well, get to being serious about it.

I've got two 1/2 wave flat top (horizontal) center fed wire dipoles that work great.

Question: Inverted V wire antennas. Do they transmit and receive more directional on the broadsides like the flat top dipoles do? I've read that some say the inverted V's transmit & receive more directional from the wire ends.

I have two horizontal dipoles up
one ne/sw,,other nw/se
they both work great for coverage from florida.
using rg6quad as coax and adapters off of auction site for so239/pl259
installed at 40' height.
getting to damn old to climb so wires, ropes and pulleys work fine for me

Was going to hang an inverted V today in a big oak tree, but it's too cold and windy. It's cut for 11 meter. Pretty sure I can get it up in the air around 35 feet. Just hoping it does good!

Dipoles often work well in attics, but there are other options. Some have laid an A99 or Imax 2k on their sides (horizontal) to fit them in an attic. For fun I put an 11m wire full wave loop in my attic. It is mounted diagonally along the rafters of my 6/12 pitch roof and is roughly two 12' long sides and two 6' long sides (use rectangle loop calculator for exact lengths). Fed in the middle of a short side provides a 50 Ohm impedance for coax feeding.
It works surprisingly well both local and dx, although I rarely use it given I have outdoor antennas.

Homer, I had a thought to model an A99 with with and without radials, to see if it would work multiband...similar to the Imax.

I want to see if I use the Eznec transformer feature...if it will allow the A99 to produce some multiband responses...like we hear-tell about the Imax. When I use the transformer feature the model does not allow me to add or subtract length to the radiator or the radials...unless I remove the TR'r and make the changes in the blind...so-to-speak. Do you see something similar when working with a real antenna and a transformer?

My short term memory is still failing me a bit after my bout with the China19 virus...and the CCP Communist hoping to break the economies of most nations in the World with their 2019 germ bomb.

So I thought you could remind me if the A99 has reports about it being multband capable too.

Maybe it is the Solarcon idea for their "quarter wave mutual transductance" matcher...that allows the I2K to work multiband. Just not sure about the A99.

I don't currently have an A99, but many hams use it in the same way as the Imax2k for 15m through 10m.
Someone here who has done it may speak up.
I can use the Imax2k without the need of a tuner.

Thanks Homer. I'm curious if either antenna has to have radials or have no radials for successful MB work? Or if it doesn't matter.
