CB dx on channel 38

If folks here actively follow a QSY protocol and limit LSB38 use to hailing, there should be less congestion. Hopefully, the practice will catch on and other operators will follow it. We could also make an effort to kindly ask those who tie up the frequency to follow this protocol.

Everyone here that uses LSB38 can make a difference. Collectively, as a group, we can make it significant.

Well my mobile will be back in my truck this evening so hopefully I'll be able to participate!

I tried to get out on my base again last night, but it just doesn't seem to be making the trip.

Dang. I've got to get a better base setup! I haven't made a single contact on it.

Dave, what are you running for an antenna? You should be able to get out even on a bone stock radio from LA. I hear stations all the time from there. When skip is rolling I usually have no problem hitting them barefoot.

Right now I'm using a Dipole I made and put it in the attic. The SWR is 1.1:1 on 38LSB. As for a radio, I'm using my DTB tuned Galaxy 959 or a Sears Roadtalker 40 SSB(it kicks arse). I have a Magnum 257 coming in Monday but I'll be using it in the mobile.

The antenna is running west south west and east north east. (end to end)

I'm thinking about getting another Dipole and putting it outside on the roof, I'll just need to get some LMR400 because the run will be fairly long.

I've got a Amazon 30amp switching power supply coming in today so I can run my KL203P amp once I get my antenna straightened out.

Hey Dave, I put together a crappy old 102" whip with 4 ground radials when I started back in April. Man, that thing rocked with the little barefoot box I use. I was thinking about your situation. From what I've been hearing from folks down south especially FL,AL and LA is it's been a pile up the past few days and all of the US has been boomin in there. Without one heck of an antenna and some juice to go with it, it's tough to punch thru the hash. Just a thought. I know the antenna is about 80% of it. I'm living proof if you've seen where I live. LOL. I could take a little POS putting out about 10 watts, connect it to a bangin' antenna and talk half way around the world. Assuming skip (the switch) is on. That amp should serve you well and def' help. The stations from FL that have been boomin in here the past few evenings are all running like 200 watt amplifiers. I hit them barefoot but that's only because of the gain and function of the Moxon. To be honest, they sound like crap! w/ a capital C! Horrible audio. yea, I can hear them but they sound terrible. A mobile station in FL tonight had some major problems with his rig and was comin' in 20 over and couldn't understand a word he was saying. Major problems with that rig. I guess what I'm trying to say is; Get your antenna/coax the best it can be and "Then" connect the amp. That's all I got. peace out and best of luck. Hope you make some contacts soon! Regards, S

Thanks! I can make contacts barefoot in the mobile fairly easy on most days and I FINALLY made a contact to needle bender 68 but on the base.

I just think the antenna being inside is restricting me. I'm going to put another dipole on the roof. My current dipole isn't really ready for rainy weather. I need figure out how to make one that will hold atleast 200 watts and be able to withstand the outdoors.

Efforts to revive LSB16 as a call channel continue October 11 from 6:00P.M. to 8:00P.M. Hopefully, this will gain momentum and relieve some of the congestion on LSB38.
