My problem is I have No Ham license and for the fore-see able future with all my remodeling project to finish up I have no time to study for a license. After I get this house finished and sold I might consider a Ham license if I still have 2 legs to stand on. LOL

I don't either, but yet I still use one,the key is to only use it on the CB freq and stay off and below 28.000-29.700 I believe ( 10 meter ham band- license required to transmit on this band) no license is required to buy or own a export radio that I remember ( if that law has changed, someone let me know) understood, just something to think about!! It( the radio comes with a 11 meter conversion chip that you just plug in and you get the CB radio frequencies also that you can use!

Send me a link to the radio and I'll look at it. I was considering the Lincoln 2+ also but I have to give my cash a rest for a while and sell some radios first as soon as I figure which ones to part with. A man just doesn't need 3 working Base Stations but I had a lot of fun along the Way. LOL

I was very interested the DDS-VFO until the costs were added up. Granted the DDS-VFO has a couple bells/whistles more than just a Frequency Switch Mod; but, the accumulated cost of bag of DDS-VFO parts, assembly of said parts, restoration from Switch Mod, then installation of DDS-VFO mod. You smart cookies out there could get buy with simply the cost of the bag of unassembled parts. I'd likely be looking at closer to three times that; in addition to the cost of recapping the Cobra 2000. True value cannot be denied. :( I am.
The only reason to do something with DDS-VFO would be to convert one of my 23ch am/ssb base stations, like my Midland 880b or Pearce-Simpson Simba. There was a fella on the West coast that did it to his Simba and it was pretty darn slick!

There's the DigiMax. Not quite as large a change to the radio as the DDS-VFO.

Digimax works great. I have my Cobra 29xlr and 139xlr with Digi-Max boards in them. Easy to understand as well - if it's an "A" channel it'll show, for example 3, and another turn of the channel control then shows 3A. If you're going below channel 1, all the numbers have a negative sign (-) in front of the channel number, and anything above 40 just displays each channel numerically (41,42, 43, 44, etc.). My eyesight isn't good enough to read the teeny-tiny frequency display while driving in the car.
