CB shops not for the weak.

looked at both. more then I can afford right now. and also looking for something without buttons. prefer dials when driving. dont have to take eyes off road. nice radios tho..
What exactly are you looking for? Be specific. There are a few of us here looking to thin out and one of us just might have something that'll suit you.

Just start a thread, it won't hurt the cause by any means.

Those two radios are about the best bang for your buck your going to find these days as far as new equipment goes!
If you're looking for new tech in an old school package with knobs check out the Anytone Ares-2 (also sold as the Radioddity QT-40). It looks like an old school Cobra but with tons more features.

You're other option is to buy a good used radio.
Take my strong advice if you do buy used and AVOID all Ranger, Galaxy, and Connex radios. None of those age well and most have had the golden screwdriver treatment more than once !!
Cobra radios on the other hand hold up very well and have high resale value as a result.

my cobra 146gtl needs work. want to send it out, think I found the right person now for that. my OLDER RCI2950 has issues. but can not be fixed. that is the one im looking to replace. I cant use anything touch screen, like knobs over buttons. a Galaxy 88HL would suit me fine.

was not looking at another RCI, I was looking at some of the Galaxy's, but stock, untouched. if its stated they have been messed with, I keep walking. pretty much with any radio at this point. looking at that ARES II, Im guessing you have to program it for 11meter use? or is that something a tech needs to open it up and do?

The Radiodity QT40 is the same exact radio and comes with a warranty. Often goes on sale, I have one as a backup. Open the cover and move a jumper for 11 meters.

it is a nice looking radio, how do you program it for 11meter tho? and to bad it has no freq counter

This thread is going in circles

Just move a jumper inside to the next set of pins for 11 meter. Hold down both channel buttons on mic, and the frequency scrolls by on the channel display.

Here is the thread on the Ares 2 that was started two years ago when we were eagerly waiting for it to be released to the public.
