I guess" bump bump" just replaced saying "Break Break" at the end of each transmisson.

Haven't heard bump bump yet.

If I am already talking to someone why would I say,Break Break at the end? Getting a Break is at the beginning last I recalled? I think some folks just make stuff up as they go?

It seems like sometimes the people who say something new or something never heard before will get a lot of people trying to get back to them. Imagine a grown man ending his transmission with "Boo, buh, buh, Boo, Boo, Boooo!" The guys in Chicago were cracking up when they heard that from the East coast.

Back in the hey days of the 70s I had a hard time using the lingo for CB. I am still a bit shy about it. Luckily in my area most don't use it. Any contacts usually take place with plain english. I am so glad of that. We have a few operators who do it occasionally but will drop it when you contact them. But when the skip is in and you hear them they are deep into the lingo. They usually stay on AM.

Now on SSB no one locally will use it except for I'll be in the side or 73s. The rest of the contact is conducted in plain english. Can't say that for all the skip operators I hear but then that's another story.

For those I may have spoken with I am 521 in Boise.

I don’t use it but I like to say “come on” as much as possible just to be funny when I’m making fun of something. It’s kinda sad cause I’ve got the whole household doing it now, I kinda hate myself for it now that I put that into words...

I’m going to contemplate on that now, maybe there’s still hope for me.

Most of these guys talk to themselves.

I have one a couple blocks from me.
He loves to say
"You aint got a thang unless you got that swang"
And he calls out to imaginary people that I cannot hear on the super bowl.

I can make sure he hears nobody. Not a soul. With one watt.
But he still answers imaginary people if I drop a carrier for two or three minutes.
Carries on a conversation...

So, slang aside, I almost never hear the other person they are talking to.
If it's Motormouth Maul I almost always hear who he is talking to.
But that's the difference between one of these twangers and someone that doesn't have conversations with themselves :)

Speaking of the bowl, what does it take to make it on the bowl? I’ve not managed to ever get a single acknowledgment that I said a word. I assume a very tall antenna and very big amplifier

I really think that 95% of them talk to themselves :)

I used to have a radio here running on the bowl.
Every time I turn it on I hear new slang.
But I never hear them having conversations.

I think you need to find a bunch of guys and just talk to each other.
On the bowl.

We did it around here a few times. They get really, really, really upset.
That's when you get them to answer you.

Oh, and you need a lot of "twang in that thang" :)

I got some rare ch6 skip into Jamacia one time. We were able to talk for about 2 min. and it was like we had the channel to ourselves. Then the rest of ch6 rolled in.... Every once in a while I can talk to someone who is in the mud on ch6 but not often. Some of these guys run big beams and tens of thousands of watts, it is mind boggling how much money is in one of these setups. I heard that Prime Minister had / has big diesel generators in his garage because he cant get enough power from the grid......
