Oh. Ok. I do those type of channels on my HF rig..

I run my McKinley in my pickup..

17 is the local channel in Scranton PA.

I get skip on 28, 20, 37, & 38 up here.. and of course 6, 10.

Talked to GA, TX, and Canada to name a few from my mobile.

I just ordered a McKinley...will be here tomorrow! Will be replacing my Uniden 520xl with it, in the dash install...

Uniden 520 was the first radio I ever had. I hope you let us know what you think of that McKinley.

Just bear in mind below say 30' F the mic causes channels to go up when you press the ptt.

I wired up and Astatic M6-575 mic and now all is well. I just use the channel knob.

Keep in mind the wiring is wierd as it has a hot pin in it.. I have it here somewhere if you need it.

I wonder if the ranger mic with the channel buttons on the side would work?

I run my Uniden 980 as a base with a little helper. The WX on the 980 is really cool and you can set it to trip on in case of an emergency weather report. Pretty handy!

McKinley all hooked-up and working great just right out of the box!
Installed in my 2001 Tacoma.

One thing I did find out, was Uniden 6-pin Mic's work just fine with the McKinley...You can also use a 6 pin to 4-pin adapter so you can use your 4-pin Cobra/Galaxy Mic's too.

For it's size, this radio is packed with options...The front speaker on the radio is better than what comes on the bottom side of most radios, I went ahead and decided t use my external speaker tho, mainly because it was already hooked-up, and is a little louder than the radios speaker...also running the radio with a Hooper 1x2 which seems to match up fine with the radio.

The RCI 6 pin and President 6 pin are not the same. A magnum 6 pin will transmit and receive but the channel buttons don't work.

I was kinda surprised the Uniden 6-pin Mic's worked...I did read somewhere, that the Uniden wireless Mic also works with this radio...I have a 6-pin to 4-pin adapter that I'm using on it now so I can use my RF Limited 2018...just don't have the up and down buttons on it, but that's fine, I can reach the channel selector just fine anyway.

Yes, looks real good. I didn't know this radio existed. I like it, probably gonna order a couple. Put one in my truck and one in the tractor. I had an old Cobra, can't recall the model, but it had a front speaker. I liked it, but didn't have a NB. This rig looks sweet!
