cheap and easy tone generator

ok so i took the mic element from this stock mic and wire a 3.5mm to the plus and minus where the element, was so i can use it with a cellphone when tuning a radio the question is do i need to add a cap or resistor parallel to the plus and minus for a cleaner audio output

You will probably need an L pad or a resistor in series to attenuate the signal. The microphone input on the CB is in the range of millivolts, whereas the headphone output of the phone is several volts.
i was thinking of a resister but got stuck on a value
