Dammit boy. I don't have any good thrift stores around me but one of our local CB guys who has a 2nd home near Daytona Beach went by one yesterday and scored a like new Yaesu FT 100D in the box for $20 friggin' dollars. Checked out and working. Unbelievable !! The 100D is the Yaesu equivalent to the Icom 706 MII G.

Dammit boy. This never happens to me. Makes ya want to become a yard sale - flea market junkie.

$20.00 is a good start wait until the usual problems start with that rig LMA:LOL:!!! If you envy it he will eventually sell it to ya no questons asked!!

Yep agreed and that's just what I'm recommending he does. The guy is not a ham. I researched the rig for him. It's not modded yet and the mod is a little tricky. Plus to make it sound decent on AM you need to add the 6khz AM filter which is not supported by Yaesu any longer. You can get one from Inrad for $140. He's going to mail it to me and I'm going to check it all out for him to make sure all functions work then he can better advertise it on ebay and send it down the road and take a BIG pile of money and run.

I check the thrift shops around here on a weekly basis, but it's rare to find any radio equipment. I did make a good score a couple years back on an old Victrola in mint condition. I paid $25 for it and turned around and sold it a week later to an antique shop for $2500. (y)

I'll give you $40 for it, you can double your money.

Recent finds at a local Goodwill store include:

: A gently used DX -100 SW receiver for $5

: A Shooting Star 225 ( with 455s in it) for $7

: A near - new JC Penney Pinto 23 Channel mobile in a custom-made carry case for $12

All of these work perfectly.

Missed opportunities:

: A Chinese- made Cobra 29 GTL that needed a new on/off - volume switch.

: An old Cobra 21.

Was a bit short of cash that day. Oops.

Go on Tuesdays when it's 25% off for seniors!
