ChinaBay strikes again....

I have bought many things directly from China on Ebay and no problems. I research the seller as best I can and just don't order something high end from them. It is usually a case of needing something but not needed the best of the best and the prices for something that is quite applicable versus what other's want is huge.

I agree. I have been buying items from China sellers for years. Occasionally there is a screw-up, but it was always made right by the seller. Only once did Ebay have to step in. There are screw-ups with US sellers too. Trouble is ... people only post their bad experiences, never their good ones.

I needed matching 50 volt and 50 amp DC meters. Cheapest decent meters I could find in North America were $22 for the voltmeter and $64 for the ammeter with the 50 amp shunt. I got decent matching meters from a seller on Ebay from China for $22 including free shipping and delivered to my P.O. Box.

I should add that the price of $22 was for BOTH meters and the shunt delivered.

This thread reminds me, I was recently repairing a bunch of blown drivers in various cobras thanks to those JP36 mods, used-up my last ones and I need a new supplier - guess my old local one died - so need a new one - anyone want to recommend a good seller of the 1957, 2314 and 2078 - might as well buy a bunch while this thread is still "fresh"?

Thanks!

The sites pretty awesome, but are they reliable?

Most of us here would recognize this part without having to say much. The site has it as out of stock, so how have they treated you when it comes to out of stock or delayed shipments.

i stopped buying from china, i buy in usa or canada or sometimes ill wait till the product has a usa seller.
I would never buy anything from Canada. The other day there was a CB mic for $4.95 +$23.95 shipping or thereabouts. What type of fiduciary irresponsibility is it that allows that to seem like a good deal. Yhey want to charge in excess of $600 for a 40-50 year old CB radio and still expect you to pay another $110 for shipping!

I will say this I have never had an issue buying from China. Every time I have been scammed it has been an American or British seller that has scammed me. I buy about 30 items a year off eBay and the wife buys double that not a single scam from China. I have been on eBay since 2001. Now I am very careful when buying from Chinese sellers I ask questions and look at feedback. I will not buy a pair of wool socks from the UK but I still purchase from American in spite of them being the biggest lot of liars and scammers.

In this case, how would you know from the photograph you would never think to ask dimensions of a 4 pin mic connector or what looks like one. That said I do not run an electronics business so I never skimp on connectors or switches I always go with brands I know and trust. If I was buying these for business things would be different. Now we all know to watch out for this!

I have bought obsolete semiconductors from China and not had a problem but they were not parts widely known to be counterfeit. I would never buy a 2SC2879 or a 2SC1969 etc.....from China I know better! LOL I would not buy capacitors directly from China either again I know better!

Prob. 1/2 the problems with CB repair shops and amp builders is their use of cheap Chinese junk transistors and capacitors! Not everything coming out of China is cheap junk but 99% of people that go to China looking for a deal are looking for cheap junk not the better higher end stuff. THink about it all of our computers, cell phones, tv's, microwaves, washer and dryers are made in China and most of the last a really long time and work just fine right out of the box. So they can obviously make good products when asked to and when you pay for it. Top tier parts out of China, India, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia are still cheaper than anyplace else they are just not dirt cheap!
