Where the West Begins.
Deliver in downtown Cincy tomorrow. Then back south just across Ohio River to Walton, KY for Blue Beacon Truck Wash (at Flying J truckstop).

A1-CB Shop supposedly operative at that location.

— Need four (4) UHF PL-259 DOUBLE-MALE COAX ADAPTERS

The major truckstop chains don’t carry these. Would rather have higher quality parts anyway, so I’d be looking for the 90’s as well.

t680 install is stalled for lack of this. Lincoln + Skipshooters are GREAT, but need to get truck put back together after re-running coax and can’t without two of these.

If that CB Shop not present or parts not in stock, any recommendations as to a retailer?

I’ll get loaded for backhaul to D/FW in greater Cincinnati area. To an extent am already driving around the area.

Route back is past Louisville then thru western KY. I “could” take the Nashville & Memphis route if a source known (IH-65S to IH40W), but I normally use IH-55 to avoid those cities.

Big truck parking always sketchy at retailers, but I’ll chance it.

Rays CB in West Memphis the single location I trust and use on that route. But it doesn’t mean I go past during hours when he’s open.

FWIW, I can alter driving plans somewhat to make this happen.

Slow, I think trucks cb, and gi joes is somewhere just south and southwest of you. They might be truck friendly if it's not too far off route.

(GI JOES) Berea, KY off IH75, so wouldn’t work this time.

(TRUCKS) Glasgow, KY, not far from Horse Cave, KY; a possibility per dispatch.

Hearing I may have to go to Indy to load. Washout done, paid to have trailer exterior washed (assigned unit; too old to be pretty, but “not embarrassing” works); re-greased fifth wheel (weekly) so it turns on ball bearings; tractor now washed fourth time in six weeks (400k at 3.5-yrs), so all that is far better than when I got in it.

Would rather load local, but other pays better.

Construction (never ends) down the ridge to Ohio River (bridge getting paint, yeah!), makes going north into Cincinnati a pain.

If Indy, at least I can divert around west on Loop IH275 from the KY side and miss the worst. IH74 outbound.

Waiting to hear.

Well shoot, those won't help you then.

I was just in your area a couple of months ago. Ran around there a couple of days, different country that's for sure.
It's a pretty view of Cinci coming in from the south down the big hill you can see downtown, looks pretty cool.

If worse comes to worst..... Ham Radio Outlet is in Plano, TX....as you come into Dallas from the north. It appears to be just off the freeway a couple of blocks.

https://www.hamradio.com/locations.cfm?storeid=20

And they have these.....

https://www.hamradio.com/detail.cfm?pid=H0-008483

So if you can't find it before.... you may be able to stop in here.....

HRO will work someday, but not likely as I’m inbound very last hours to receiver. This trip it will be to SW Quadrant of Dallas County and I’m due at same time HRO opens (figures, right?)

LARRYS CB isn’t far off from HRO, both are really for when I’ve got some time on an outbound load AND am headed North or Northeast.

This Dispatch has me loading barely NE of Indy. Means I’ll run past Mt Vernon, IL, and Joplin, MO, where I’ve a chance of finding something (major truckstop interchanges). But the hours I’m running may not be “right” to for retail hours. We’ll see.

Needless to say I’ll be paying attention to signage and on-air CB Radio Shop data as I go along.

  1. I never had good luck with those double male connectors. If you tighten them down too much the barrels come off. If you don't tighten them enough, they come loose.
    [*]

[*]Better off making a super short jumper.

  2. I think that’s the right route after this trip. Have some guy make them up.

  3. I’ll do what I can to get what works this trip in order to get this install done.
  4. Still have to set power NEG ground in shelf then some more metal screws for RF Bonds nearby.

  5. Thinking on buying another radio as my 979 may not be 100%. 979 or 949 AM/SSB Galaxy. Single final and make it work with 203 or 7405 (will 100W reach all those I can hear nearby, or will 200W work better to make the most of antenna system + DSP? kind of questions)

  6. All in all I want to finish the thread and be ready when the next tractor comes around (October?) with some better supply, etc.

  7. But have worked out the bugs on a t680 beforehand.
  8. Get to a reputable CB shop for radio & amp when time allows or I get lucky.
