Back in Jan I sent my two AR 3500's (110W) radios to Bob at Bob's CB for repair. I called Bob and asked him if he would work on them and he said yes. I realized it would be 6 months plus to get them worked on...but from all that I read he was the one person who could put new life back into these radios.

I just got a call and they are being shipped back this week. I had the SP-1 speech processor installed, battery back up installed, and Bob went through power section and did a complete tune up and repair.

Although it will likely be this spring before I install the AR3500 in my 70 C10... I know I will have a unique radio in my ride.

Life is good :thumbup1:

Don't you find the 3500 to be too fiddly and big in the mobile. Need tweezers to use the clarifier....
I am sure there must be much better options out there to put in a car.
Something basic and classical like a cobra ...
Then you can sell those ar3500's on ebay for 300 bucks each!

C10 is a truck... Got lots of room. If I don't like the install I agree ... I can sell. The fact they are now in top notch shape.....if I do decide to sell I should recover my $$$.

Should be pretty cool. I haven't ever owned one, but I've always read great reports on how they performed (especially on SSB).

You indeed got yourself Excellent Radios..
the AR-3500 Always Worked Extremely well for me..

Heck...until i got the 706 MKIIG
it had been my Best Radio that i used Specifically for SSB..

Now with my 706 MKIIG and IC-7000 radios
there is No longer a need for me to g back to the AR-3500

But Dang how Great a Radio it was for me back in the Day
it Destroyed the 2970 i had..

Oh and when i was using the AR-3500 i was using it in a Mustang
and i got it installed in it Just fine...So Putting it in your truck should be Far easier..
( is Funny though..People knew a mile away who i was with the Huge antenna on the roof of my Mustang..But All i cared about was how well it performed....lol )
