Good morning!

I did a little searching, but I didn't really find anything right off.

Has anyone done anything with the TX/RX audio on the Cobra 1000GTL? From what I understand, it's the same board as the Cobra 29GTL, but I couldn't really find anything for that radio either.

Any input is appreciated!

It's a great classic radio that does not need much. I would start with a nice tune and correct alignment.By this I mean make sure it's on frequency, dead key is set where you want it (or variable), modulation set to 100%. The receive will be superb and with the right desk mic the audio will be just as good. Don't try to make it a 50 watt radio, all you will do is burn the power supply out and it won't sound any better. Get a small amplifier if you need MOPOWA.

Thanks for the replies!

I have already done a full Mosfet conversion and tune and I run it off of the DC input and an external power supply. It runs absolutely fantastic. 55w PEP and 11w Bird average on 14.7v (NO cut limiter). I've got plenty of steel power on tap, so I've got the amplifier area covered.

I was just wondering about widening up the TX and RX audio some especially the receive side.

I found a schematic for the 29GTL, but it's still a little too pixelated to really make out much of anything and I haven't found one that is any clearer.

Could you give more details of the procedure and parts used for the modification?
Thanks.
Five one.

FWIW.

I am also interested in audio upgrades for the Cobra 29 and Cobra 1000.

This is the graphic I was referring too. Is something like this worth investigating?
