Cobra 148 GTL Taiwan alignment problem / question

Sorry to Hijack...

@Low_Boy - while you're here...check this link out...

https://www.worldwidedx.com/threads/trc-453-no-rx-tx.235386/

Then remember your Pc-122 - the one with the broken mic jack?

You have a red TX lite because the PLL side of things is working..

But if the other half of the IF - that being the clarifier side (AN612 and or audio) you may have a older cap that failed or was put in the wrong way - look by the AN612 - check it's pins for voltage - especially Pin 6 when you TX...

Why does the Red LED work but IF quits, just that, it (PLL) doesn't check the other IF side - the thing when it TX's sends power the Mic feed too - that edge trace - along the front of the board under that ribbon cable - it loops to the PLL and around to the MIC side - by VR2 (SQ) - if it ain't all hooked up - Mic side won't work because it can't get power...

Andy cool. I was looking at that PC122 last night and wondering what to do with it. Boy I have a lot of things to look at this weekend.
Thanks.
Actually I tripped over it.

I found another resistor that had been changed. R175 changed from a 33k ohm to a 270 ohm resistor. Replaced R175 with a 33k no difference. R174 was correct.

Just found the problem. Missing white wire from just under R44 where the Orange clarified wire goes should be a white wire going to just under VR3. The Orange wire should be in the hole just below where it is. What were they trying to do?

good find Low Boy. these kind of repairs no one can really help you on since it just takes a good set of eye's to find some ones goof up.

I looked at that missing wire and thought it was a newer model and possibly design change. Then saw the white wire on two more radios. I flipped it over and touched a jumper to both points and the frequency went up. Today I will install the wire where it belongs. Then the rest of the caps and glue removal.
