I just do it as the instructions say and that's what I have always ended up with when I do a clarifier on a 148. To be fair they are a bit touchy and a 10 turn would make it a lot easier to use, but I never had an issue when I ran a 148 like that.Yup it certainly did that time. Well hell yeah that's one sweet little setup you have there my friend. Love them shiny little birdies for sure making me a bit jealous lol. Well there's a fella that sells what's left of the Expo kits and he's got a nice 5 position rotary switch nicely wired into a ribbon cable that I'm gonna grab and try to throw it into this Chinese 148. I know, I know everyone says that they're crap but honestly I don't mind it. I recapped it and replaced all the resistors to 1/4w cuz I already had a ton of surplus components sitting around. The radio took nicely to the standard reciever upgrade. 12db Sinad @ 111.4 dbm on AM and 12db Sinad @ 126.1dbm on SSB. I was impressed with that. Good audio reports as well so I'm not sold that these Chinese radios suck. With a little tlc they're ok in my book. How did you do the clarifier unlock? 10kc up and down? That's crazy!
I have pictures of the mods somewhere if you're interested.
