Cobra 29 LTD Classic

Check the tag on the back, does it say made in Philly? As long as it's not a Soundtracker radio you should be fine.

Just purchased a Cobra 29 LTD Classic, it has the front mike jack. I know some 29's have side mikes. Is there a difference in the innards between the two designs? Years ago I had a 29 that had uppers and lowers installed and I'm hoping I can do the same with this one.

73's

a lot of the side mic 29's were older ones made in the phillipines and malaysia. They are supposed to be built better and have good audio. The china ones are too bad IMO.

where can I find the A+ kits ? :?:

(edit) they actually make 29's in Philly ??? ROFLMAO

Since you don't know where to find the kits, I will also
assume you don't have the skill to install one correctly.

You don't just hook it up. The radio needs to be aligned
to get all the channels to lock and power evenly
distributed across the bands.

I have seen shops just throw them in.
No alignment. They no worky good at all.

Find a good shop, Like DTB's radio shop to do it.

I would like to get that kit for uppers and lowers but I heard it was d/c...

Your radio is fine SD , side mic or front ! Sound tracker or not ! (you just don't use the feature on those) or made in Timbucktoo !! It's a good radio that will tune up nicely and have all the audio you will need if done up right. The rest can go along the lines of what Librium said. Don't forget a good antenna and feedline , for without those , I don't care what kind of radio you got, your not going to be getting out very good. Good luck to you. ;)

exactly what he said. if ya got an ST, just turn it off, then ya got a regular 29 with some good audio!!

Switch, the earth is not flat and soundcrapper radios are not good. If Cobra would have hired you to promote those radio's they would have sold like hotcakes......for awile anyway.
