What can I say ??? ..... at least it worked long enough to get it to the shop, where it was probably repaired with rebar or plumbing pipe.

hey, you do what you gotta do. I "fixed" a friends car that had the trunk rust out until the leaf spring popped through. we jacked it up and put a tire iron through the spring bolt hole for the body to rest on. worked fine for months.
I had a throttle cable break one night, so I ran a 14 gauge wire from the carb, through the hood/fender gap, and in through the driver side window. got me home and 50 miles round trip to the parts place the next day.

Wait'll more pictures start coming out of Cuba. I remember a set of pictures of home-made fixes on their old cars some years back. I clearly remember a tree branch - with leaves still on it - be used as a replacement for a, ahem, rear leaf spring. :eek: On like, an early '50's Chevy Be Air!
