Colt ceases production of AR's

RS , Yup Cali is different in a lot of ways . And usually not for the good of the consumer ! I been looking @ 223 cal / Nato style Ar's , not sure what I'm going to do . Still have buying a Bolt Action in that Cal also , just haven't made up my mind yet ! But if I go they Ar route I'll build mine I've been researching the parts for one @ Midway for weeks now , Just haven't " Pulled the Trigger " .

I have a second upper with heavy bolt, 21" bull barrel in .223 Wylde. It is designed for both .223/.556. Check that one out.

I have owned a few Colt AR's, I liked them, but I enjoy finding a good lower and building up from there. I like a simple platform. I don't deck them out with any of the Tacticool stuff. 20" unlined barrel, quality peep sights and a smooth light crispy trigger. I pretty much just shoot 22's anymore. Way cheaper and much more fun. Can't afford those big boolits anymore.

Mud , your right ! I have " Bigger " stuff but enjoy my old Ruger 10/22 , it's all decked out . I have a Tatical Stock for it , but right now it's clad in the stock wood one . Best of both worlds , Fun & Cheap to shoot .

Those are great guns imho if anybody needs a flat bent I got a bender and a riveter fo ak style stuff I'm on my last kit a sad time for me kits cost more than new now

Amazing what you can do with the 91/30 for not a lot of $$ . Cheaper Than dirt lists the black polymer stock @ $165. Bipod and glass of choice...

Cousin in eastern Washington used one as a desert rifle. 600 yards plus once he got it to hold zero. (I'll spare you the details). 7.62 x 54R is a viable long range cartridge. The 1 in 9.5" (1 in 10 according to some) will stabilize Prvi Partizan 182gr but the 200gr plus weights are a rifle to rifle question. Although the 146 through 150gr may be the most available , my opinion is 175gr may be the sweet spot.

Sierra 180 gr .311" SP 2310 bullet and IMR 4895, 50.5 gr. to start ~ 53 gr. is a compressed load. OAL should allow for at least .002" jump into the rifling to avoid pressure spikes.

Standard disclaimer applies. YMMV, guns are dangerous, people are lethal, don't try this at home, only you can prevent stupid...

I dug mine up in a farmers field near the Czech boarder.

Liberal media loves a good spin. CNN recently reported that gun manufacturer Cult has stopped making rifles for consumers like the AR15. Several other media outlets released this information as if it was some liberal victory but Colt say, not so fast.

In a statement published on Colt’s website and promoted on social media Thursday, Colt President and CEO Dennis Veilleux said the company has decided to temporarily suspend production of rifles for the civilian market, but made a point of noting that the decision is not motivated by a political agenda and that the company remains “committed to the Second Amendment.” Instead, he explained, Colt has determined that the sporting rifles market has reached “significant excess manufacturing capacity.”

“There have been numerous articles recently published about Colt’s participation in the commercial rifle market,” the statement reads. “Some of these articles have incorrectly stated or implied that Colt is not committed to the consumer market. We want to assure you that Colt is committed to the Second Amendment, highly values its customers and continues to manufacture the world’s finest quality firearms for the consumer market.”

“The fact of the matter is that over the last few years, the market for modern sporting rifles has experienced significant excess manufacturing capacity,” Veilleux continued. “Given this level of manufacturing capacity, we believe there is an adequate supply for modern sporting rifles for the foreseeable future.”

Colt then goes on to explain that they’re going to put that effort into producing more rifles for the military. The emphasis that Colt wants to focus on is that their change is not permanent and not due to some political pressure from the left.

Funny that you should mention the supposed spin on the story by CNN. I actually read the story on CNN Online the day it broke and saw NO SUCH SPIN. The article I read clearly stated that Colt was making the move due to a saturated market and that sales had slowed as well as stating that Colt was committed to the 2'nd amendment. I read no such spin regarding a liberal victory. Granted I view the international version of CNN and not the USA version.

Of course Colt has stopped making things at other times.

Like the Python & Anaconda. No reasons given, just stopped production and prices went out of sight. Same thing will happen with Colt AR's.

Gotta get me a big wheel gun. The only ones I have now are my grandfather's Iver Johnson 22 and my father's Webley 38 that he bought out of the back of a magazine in the early 60s.
