The thing is those guys are having success with their EF’s and the such and that’s all that matters. Not everyone can have your and CK’s setup. Or even want one.

There is enough negativity on this site without the Admins promoting it.

Admins are not promoting negativity. Eham reviews are laughable at best. Those of us that have been around in the radio hobby for a few decades see that. EFHW's work. Not great but they work. Most new hams get an EFHW or G5RV and sing high praises as if it was a gift from God himself because they have nothing to compare it too. After all any antenna is better than nothing. I have seen MANY guys sing high praises over their G5RV HF antenna and their J-pole for 2m as if they were the bestest (sp) thing in the whole wide world simply because they have ZERO experience with anything else. I am on a Facebook group for EFHW users and I beat my head on the desk nearly every day I read some of their comments. The lack of knowledge on that site is astounding. Most of them have been hams for less than a year or two. It shows.

Okay, Captain, let's see if we can resolve this in a manner that saves you from putting your desk to more use.

I totally agree there are reviewers on Eham praising EFHW's because it is their first antenna and they have nothing to compare against. BUT, there are also reviews from guys who have done their homework, know the antenna's limitations, know there are better alternatives out there, but because of limited space, HOA restrictions, or some other reason, decide to go with one anyway. They don't care if the feed-line radiates, if it gives off a bad smell or stunts the growth of their St. Augustine grass because they are making LOTS of contacts and enjoying the hobby. So they decide to share their experience with others only to be labeled laughingstocks by you guys.

Members are aware of the knowledge and experience you and BJ share. It's why they (myself included) come to you for help. I just don't understand the need to put people down. You're both smart men. You can get your point across without that.
I'm not alone when I say I wish you would.

I say, if its all you got, or can afford, then throw it up. Something is always better than nothing. Some dudes will just go without, for no other reason, that it's simply not optimal. It's like, since it's substandard, I ain't putting it up. These same dudes will shit all over someone else's post when they're simply asking about using the same compromise antenna.

Eham, but mostly QRZ is definitely full of those ass clowns. They act like your stupid for wanting to erect something other than a full size wire, $500 vertical with 80 miles of radials or a SteppIR beam on a 200' tower.

They are easy to spot. Every QSO they have, is nothing but a bravado wanker brag festival. Dudes are incapable of talking about non ham related stuff.

Boring....

I agree with pretty much everything that you have said. Some people NEED to run whatever that can due to HOA or space restrictions and I have ALWAYS said any antenna is better than nothing. Run what you can. I have also said to recognize the limitations and learn to deal with them. That does not mean bestowing great praise on an otherwise mediocre antenna simply because it fits in your lot. A poor antenna is a poor antenna regardless where it is located or why it is used.

Get one thing clear and that is that I have never ridiculed someone for the antenna that they run. Nor the gear they run. I have set the record straight by saying that what they proclaim as a GREAT antenna is nothing more than a mediocre antenna and explain why. That is called educating not ridiculing.

Well so far you are the only one that keeps complaining about every little thing that you disagree with. It started the week you joined when you didn't like the words someone used to get the message across. Then after I set things straight you complained that the words I used were too harsh. Unfit I believe you said because I used the term asshole to someone that proved themselves to be exactly that and was later banned because of it. Time to thicken up the skin a bit man. There's something else for you to complain about. The truth hurts sometime. Deal with it.
