Step,

The guy that imports Connex line is actually a cool guy. He wants to provide the best radio he can for the price. He has all kinds of things in the works.

whats the price on that the 95t looks better and it's aboput the same output

I would estimate on the retail end you'll see them for around $379 or so. That is more expensive than the DX48T, but for some people the Connex is what they prefer. At this point the Connex will have 2) 2sc2290 final transistors, which is very similar any other radio out there with a built in amplifier. There are no cooling issues with the 4600 Turbo, contrary to what was being posted on other message boards.

Unless it has Fans or something I would be very suprised if it doesn't get hot... My Connex 4300 HP with 1 2290 gets warm on extended use, and I finally had to fabricate a fan to cool it down, the heatsink by itself wasn't enough.

I figure that's why the Galaxy,Ranger's etc... with the Dual 2290's all have some kind of Fan set-up... The ones in my Ranger 6900 F150/6300F150 work trick... But even on extended conversations the heat sink will get a little warm, that's alot of output for the 2290's ... Mine are both putting out about 190-195 watts on the peaks...

My Connex 4300HP does about 106 Watts on the peaks..

Yeah all these radios are going to run a little warm at the output they do. 106 watts is alot of output for the 4300 so I can see why it gets warm for sure.

80-90 Watts is the going rate for these radios... But I put a Bird on it, and that's what it is showing... I am not sure why this one is so vigourous, and I would think that at that kind of a peak the Audio would start to sound "Crappy", but the thing sounds good. I have often let my wife talked on it while I listened to see how it sounded, especially at first to get the radio set-up right... And it sounds really, really good.

High Miler is most defiantly correct about the 80 - 90 watts on the 4300HP. We are seeing this type of power on a bird RF analyst.

My Bird might be a little loose... But that's what I thought... About 80-90 Watts for good clean audio, and you really don't want to go much more, for one it's not going to get you anything on the S-Meter and 2 it just needlessly beats the radio's final.

There will be a small number of the Connex 4600's availble with in the first 10 - 18 days of July. The rest will arrive later via ocean freight. We currently have two of these radios available if anyone is interested.

Thanks

I can't believe the price is $379.00 ... For a couple bucks more I would go with A Galaxy 95T or the Ranger 6900 (My personal Favorite) ... Atleast than you get SSB ... Fans too keep those Dual 2290'S cool... And if the Echo is anything like the 4300 than the Echo is definately smoother on the other 2....

I like my Connex 4300/4800... But I most defiantely like the RCI Ranger line more... And for $379.00 .... Nope... Too much money for a basic AM high power rig...

And if you boys get the 4600... You better look at getting a fan... Even on my Fan Cooled Ranger extended talk times make that Heat Sink Warm... Without fans... Too much punishment on the finals.

When they get down to the $325.00 mark maybe than...
