Connex 4800DXL Schematic

The Galaxy DX99V manual posted at www.cbtricks.com is really close. Same circuit board, similar front-panel controls.

Not sure what "pot" you mean by "VCO". "Pot" is short for "potentiometer", or a variable resistor.

The VCO is adjusted with a variable slug-tuned coil, not a variable resistor. The VCO coil is marked L17, but rarely goes bad. A junk radio chassis with a coil marked "2017" will probably be a safe bet. If your problem is a cracked tuning slug, unsolder and remove L17. The tuning slug is double-ended. You can remove the slug using the undamaged end sticking out the bottom, and put it back in the top. Blowing some "canned air" through the hole first should clear any splinters that may jam the threads. 99 times out of 100, a coil that gets put back, with the slug turned over will tune just fine. So long as you use a light touch and don't crack the slot on it again.

Some of us less technical people call the round adjuster with the screwdriver slot in it a "pot".
