Constant white noise

I’m having a frustrating problem with 2 S-units of static constantly. Even my old house I had 2 S-units of static. My old set up was a 22ft push up pole with a imax 2000. I recently put up a new push up pole 30’ with a Maco V5/8. 2 ground wires with #4 wire used (ground rods drove 2ft in the ground) And I STILL have 2 S-units of static. Swapped radios... same. Turned off all breakers except the room the CB is in and.... same. I have literally tried everything I can think of and absolutely nothing has helped even the slightest bit. I do have powerlines nearby and I do think that’s my problem. What I don’t understand is I know people with antennas close to power poles and their receive is quite. What throws me off is 2 different houses and the very same results.... 2 S-units.

ANY help with greatly be appreciated. I may be missing something but please send your 2 cents

At the risk of sounding like a smart-a$$, what does the S-meter show with the antenna coax unplugged from the radio?

If the radio has sideband, set it to either USB or LSB and turn on the NB, noise blanker. Do you see a difference? Doing this in AM mode is less likely to be helpful.

Not all static is created equal. More than one kind, and more than one kind of source.

Above post is correct, the first thing to do is to determine where the noise is from... something outside your house via the antenna, or something on the elect wiring of your house.

Do you have a computer on a UPS?
Security alarm?
hard wired smoke detectors?

most Wall Worts are a constant noise source.

Soon as I unhook the coax the noise leaves, ZERO static. The radio is a Galaxy 2517. I’ve tried different radios and it’s the same situation. Smoke detectors are battery powered so no hard wired stuff here. What really throws me off is at my old house (complete different area across town) I had the same issue with the noise. I couldn’t figure it out there either! My mobile with the RF gain fully open shows 1 S-unit of static. This many not sound like a issue to many but when trying to talk to locals far away it gets frustrating. Thx -007

PS... this is only on AM. USB and LSB are quite

hook the radio up to a battery and go hit the main breaker of your house off.
If the static is still there then you got more digging.
If its not, you still got more digging, like hitting the power back on and then toggling each breaker till you hear the static stop then going to that room and unplugging stuff till you find it.
power supplies for led tv's, smart chargers and touch lamps are culprits.

Well, that narrows it down, the source is outside your house.

do you have a battery powered AM radio, tune it off any broadcast stations and move around to try to find the source.

Could be anything.. dirty insulators on a power line, battery charger in a neighbors garage, grow lights, ect.

is it there 24/7 or just certain times?

24/7 constantly. I got in the mobile and went to the dead end of my road and the static SLIGHTLY got quieter than at my house. The houses here are close together and I noticed also that the majority of the power poles have.... transformers

My Neighbor is a Card holding Weed grower , nice guy & never have a problem w/him he's 100 percent legal , but when his Exhaust Fan comes on to regulate the heat in his grow room I get constant white noise . Also we have Halogen recessed lights above our Kitchen counter when my wife turns those on it causes me a whole lot of grief !:LOL:

I killed all power to every breaker in the house and still have 2S-units of noise  I guess it’s something I have to deal with! I’ve ran out of ideas of what it could be besides the powerlines
