Cool Video of a custom 80-foot Tipping Tower in action!

I've seen similar builds. That is far from 80'. 3600 lbs, wee ha! Material is much more expensive now compared to 20 years ago.

Looks like it works great for the OM.

Cool post!

BTW, welcome to the forum.

I remember seeing a tower, similar to yours, a few years back. The guy was a scanner listener. He used a boat winch to raise and lower. I thought his was heavy duty, but yours blows his away.

Welcome as well! What size is that footing? Reminds me if this but cool anyways!

If it works, it works!
As for the little bobbing head thingy, imagine a barrel on the bottom of that swinging 'arm' of the mast. Fill that barrel with water and the thing stands up straight. Empty it, and it lays down. Just takes a water hose and a water faucet, right? Wish I had room for one!

(Oh, and some anti-freeze for winter.)

Wow, very well built. I pity the guy holding the camera when you did the demo up/down. It must have been scary to hold onto the tower and the camera at the same time. :D

It's been a long time, but I believe the base was four-feet square by eight-feet deep. There is a welded cage embedded into the concrete base with rebar pounded into the sides of the hole wall.

The whole structure was designed by an architect before it was built. The plans cost me $1,200.00!
