Actually cases were detected a full two months before the start of Chinese New Year which kicked in Jan. 25 this year. Cases were being reported the end of the previous November.

I’m all about a conspiracy theory involving China... but in this case I actually think the virus is simply a product of the wet markets.

I agree. All the epidemiologists have stated that from the genome of the virus it appears to be from nature. They have all stated they are 99.999% sure of that. Apparently they can detect the difference between a genetically created virus versus a naturally occurring one.
