well it's been a little while since i've responded to a "tim" thread, but i swear, he makes me want to hang out my shingle to mod radios just to stop the abuse!
i'm with you Jeff. for a re-cap i charge 75 dollars plus parts. i feel like that's expensive, but it does take some time to do no matter how good you are.
for everyone else who may not have heard it yet, Tim is not a radio repair man.
he is a radio modder. there is nothing wrong with that in and of itself, but he actually takes on repair work he has no business doing, and charges the customer a bundle for it.
you can see in his videos how proud he is when he actually finds a problem. LOL
i remember when i first met him it was in the old yahoo mod board group we started.
he was selling his services as a "mod board" installer, and then coming in to the chat room so that he could ask us for help to get them working.
it wouldnt have been an issue except that he was selling himself as an expert to the people he was charging. eventually we backed off on the advice, which led to him getting a few radios in that he could not make the mod work on, and after that he began denouncing the mod boards as crap, and moved on to being a lescomm cheerleader.
i guess people keep going to him because there is no one else out there who will do this stuff for them?
