CW transmission question on Kenwood TS-850S

I am new to CW transmission and I'm looking to make my first transmission on the above transceiver. I am concerned about the two controls CAR and PWR.
The manual tells me that to transmit on CW I only have to have the VOX button down and adjust CAR to ensure that the carrier is in the ALC zone. Does the PWR control also have to be adjusted? Is CAR equivalent to a PWR control for CW?

Thanks in advance.

Yes...ALC need not be a concern on CW... unless operating some other "DIGI" mode
Thank you for the prompt response. So you are saying that the PWR control can really be 0 (fully anti clockwise) during CW transmit?
And why does the manual ask me to adjust CAR to within the ALC zone?

OK Mis-read the rig...was thinking TS830...
OK PWR works in ALL modes.
When in CW...the CAR control also has control of the modulation levels if using FSK/RTTY or other digital modes
(50% duty cycle max output). This helps control the total Bandwidth of the sig. (reduces splatter)
Standard CW usage it also limits the total output slightly below full output.
Been a long time since played with one of those rigs.
CW keep power level so total output around 70-75 watts....
Other DIGI modes...(god forbid) :ROFLMAO: FT8/FT4/Msk144 plus SSTV/ RTTY
50 watts MAX
Hope this helps

All the Best

So, with PWR at 0 and CAR top of the ALC zone, I would not be transmitting!. Sorry to sound so dull. It's just that I know the PWR control will affect my transmission. In other words, if I want to transmit CW I need to use both controls - CAR to prevent splatter and PWR to actually transmit, both the total to be within ALC.
