Deer Hunting,,,,,,,, errrrrrr sorta

Three shots at a close distance - and the deer just sat there like it was caught in the headlights!
It surely was that deers lucky day!
Couldn't have been your day - that's for sure..
Isn't deer out of season now?!?

Not me, just found the video on youtube

I need to find some place to go deer hunting where they just walk out into the road and stare at you. Deer hunting is too tough here.

Before passing full critical judgment on the hunter/shooter, I would love to see exactly what rifle & sights he was using. Also depending on the zoom of that particular video camera, I'm going to assume the distance to be no more than 100 yards, and possibly a little less.....
At that distance I routinely shoot clay pigeons with a .22 caliber CZ 452 Trainer with iron sights, and do it with a 85 to 90% hit ratio.
The rifle in that video was no .22, it's most likely some variety of a .30 caliber center fire round in a bolt action rifle, but was the shooter using iron sights, or a scope. If the shooter was using a scope and missed 3 times like that, it's time to hit the range and re-calibrate that thing, and check it for accuracy.
If the shooter was using iron sights, again it's time to hit the range and re-calibrate the windage and elevation, and check the accuracy.

Next question would be, how old and experienced was the shooter, was the shooter a kid on his first hunting trip, if so then this was acceptable. However if the shooter was an experienced hunter.....there's no friggin excuse for missing that animal 3 friggin times at that close range....

Regardless of range, weapon/sights, experience level, bottom line if your not proficient with properly verified/working equipment you shouldn't be out there:thumbdown: Range isn't even a factor if you can't hit it, don't shoot at it..

Don't know how many times I've come acrossed a dead deer that was wounded by some moron, not to mention the animals i've seen maimed....

In California, it's not even legal to shoot from/on/to the road like that. If that was a video taken here, it would be very incriminating.

Seeing the deer stand in the tree right along that (road / trail / path) I would have to assume that it's not a legit "road", but a well manicured dirt trail or path.

In New Jersey you can not legally fire a weapon within a certain distance of a legitimately mapped road, do not remember what the actual distance is since I haven't hunted since the early 1980's, but dirt trails, fire roads, and power line access trails were not included in that ruling.

Of course if that video was shot in New Jersey, that guy wouldn't be using a center fire rifle, it's shotgun only in this over crowded state. 00 Buck, or rifle slugs for deer, we also have a Blackpowder season, and a Bow Hunting season too, but no center fire rifle hunting allowed.

forget about that guys marksman ship or equipment .
did anyone notice the other stand behind the deer .?
id hate to be the hunter almost to that stand and the gets hit by the missed shot .
everyone misses , maybe not 3 times in a row that close . but theres no excuse for poor hunter safety

Damn good point.....was concentrating so much on the piss poor shooting that I was blind to that fact.....

Watch it again, now that Booty mentioned that I also notice one of the rounds "skip" down the road, you can see the dust trail!

I would imagine by the Blind placement this is a private preserve somewhere..... Also fairly obvious no one is in the other blind... OTOH plenty of idiots in the world, Hunting/shooting has its fair share just like anything else..
