NTE makes only three things:

Money.

A cross-reference book.

And packaging of remarked components.

This has been their business model all along. Buy parts, scrub the original markings and print a new "NTE" number on it.

They are a marketing company. They do not own a factory.

IF we trust the NTE470 datasheet, there is no other 12 volt HF transistor they could have relabeled, that would match their stated 290 watt collector dissipation.

Question; If DEI 2SC2879 transistors are so bad then why would Texas Star have them in their amplifiers? Isn't this like comparing Chevrolet to Cadillacs?

Because like everyone else they used what they could get after the Toshiba's got so expensive.

Got DEI in my DX-500V and they are working perfectly. After the power wire upgrade and cheap fuse removal, I drive it with 30W PEP and am getting a solid 650W out of it and clean as hell. Audio reviews are tremendous. Barely gets warm running at 14.2V idle and pulling to 14.0V on tx

The Brand New Texas Star amps don't have "fake" Toshiba's They all come with 2SC2879 (DEI) Transistors.

First I've heard of this, I can guarantee you they didn't come from Galaxy!

The counterfeit Toshiba's all have the same date code.
If HG could get consistent repeatable lots going it would be good .
Crusher posted some good info here someplace about the tuning of different lots of hg 2879's.

There is a vid posted here on the forum of a new Texas Star being opened up and shows the counterfeits in the amp, even pulling the caps off to look at the die inside.
It's not new news.

If you go search youtube for " Fake Toshiba 2879 " there are lots of hits.

The units are coming from galaxy

If you go read in the AMP section there is lots of info regarding different 2879's.
