Love me some RUGER Firearms. I took out a beer can @ 100 yards with a RUGER SUPER BLACKHAWK with the .45 long Colt. There was a $100.00 bet that they welched out on. I should have just kept the pistol.

I present you my 7.5 inch barrel 3 screw unmolested ruger blackhawk, its the easiest shooting acvurate hand cannon i own. I load it to 44 mag specs.only a blackhawk is that strong

I was going to use a simple laser pointer in the chamber of the 03/M2 Springfield rifle. Can't be much worse than using one of the cheap lights that get terrible revues, so I thought I would improvise.

Any tips on how you like to dial in your scopes that are cheap, easy, and efficient other than just throwing rounds down the range?

Got a Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40 and will also have to get some new Weaver high rings to get it mounted on this vintage Springfield that kicks like an injured mule . . .
Best way to dial in a Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40 'scope' is to take it back where you got it and replace it with something American Made...I personally have seen five Nikons that would not hold zero on anything bigger that a .22 Save yourself the disappointment. I don't mean to sound like an ass but I have seen the frustration and disappointment in missing a great shot because a scope did not hold zero.

Nikon = trash from a third world country.set it,tap it with a medium size screwdriver handle n id bet settings are off

My one knock on the Nikon relates to construction, and in a curious way.
The normal regime for scope mounting is to align the rings on the receiver with a ground shaft the size of the tube , 1 inch, 30mm, 35mm, whatever and then carefully lap the installed rings to remove mounting stresses.

Miss any of these steps with Nikon and there will be extreme frustration.
It seems the one quality piece of the Nikon in general is the tube itself. It's alloy and heat treat seem to add up to a bit of a problem. A softer tube would take a "set" . The Nikon tube is a bit of a spring. Any misalignment tends to "wind up" the tube , unpredictably and inconsistently "unwinding" the stresses.

Quality optics are a rapidly moving target (sic) . It takes intelligent due diligence to get the most from your $$.

This is part 22 but the whole conversation starts back in part 12-13 or so. I realize that a 3-9 x30 is more than enough in most cases but much of the discussion applies. If you think you know it all don't bother. If you want to learn something I assure you you will find something new if not something you had forgotten.

YMMV (y)

Have 2 Nikon with BDC. Making me wonder. Haven't had time to shoot in a while. Neither seemed off to me. One on a M4, and other on mini 14. Very meticulous when setting scopes. Maybe I got it right, maybe need to set up bench. Would be good upcoming weeks to let some rounds off. Keeps those "walkers" from wandering in searching for toilet paper.

Ralph , almost looks like the same Nikon I have on my 303 British Sporty Enfield decent $ scope but fairly cheap Weaver High Mounts . I learned that a long time ago hunting one winter in Vt , shooting @ a Bear " Fogged up Lenses Suck " !
