Local news reported today the college athlete's attorney is claiming he was provoked and was kneed in the groin so he re acted in self defense

It does look like she brought her knee up but it looks she was either attempting sit her ass on the bar stool or to fend him off. Either way it was not raised quickly in such a manner so as to knee someone in the groin. Besides at that point he had already put his hands on her and forced her right arm down and to the left. Again, there was an exchange of words as can clearly be seen starting when she looks over her right shoulder. Too bad we cannot hear what was said by either party.

It doesn't look like there is room for stools at the bar... everyone is standing. But I agree, it doesn't look like she's trying to knee him in the groin.

After watching it again... MAN, he REALLY clocked her. Has Al Sharpton shown up yet?

I believe in chivalry when dealing with LADIES, but this woman is no lady.

she didn't start it, he had no valid reason to grab her wrist. if you think a wrist grab isn't enough reason, then lend me your wrist. won't take long before you or your wife start swinging.

I worked as a bouncer in a bar in Austin Texas. The standing rule was you never hit a lady. Restraining rather than beating the clients. We would not have sanctioned the violence between the patrons and would have filed charges on both for what ever was applicable. Drunk and disorderly, Public intoxication and whatever else the manager of the bar felt was needed. We had a upper class clientele and we were there for their protection.

hard to say if she had a clenched fist or, as can be seen with her thumb sticking out, she was saying "I was here first" with here thumb indicating where she was standing. this whole thing would be SOOO much easier to understand if we just had the audio to go along with it.

During my time as a Correction Officer I gut punched by a hostile woman and got a tooth knocked out. The woman had her fist ready to strike the player and I would have grabbed her wrist too. If a mad at the world woman is seconds away from punching you in the face, you are welcome to find out what it feels like. This is Florida and the woman could have had a pistol or knife in her pocket and gals can definitely hurt a man if they are not careful.
If I was in a crowded bar and a woman raised her fist to strike me for just brushing up against her I wouldn't hit her but my wife would!
