Dipole Antenna

I bet he got the rotor back on the TV Antenna.....Thats what I used was 14 guage solid insulated wire for my dipoles
He got to keep the rotor but he had a bigger problem.
He lived directly across the street from a church. We assembled and tested the antenna on Saturday. Sunday morning he turned-on the radio and started talking skip and within fifteen minutes a representative from the church was knocking on his door.
Every time he transmitted, his (no foul language) voice was coming over the church's intercom when the priest was talking. He agreed to not use the radio until after the last mass on Sundays.
After a while the wire started to sag because of the weight of the (big) birds. Once the wire became sagged the radio didn't perform as good as it did in the beginning.

I've been using one for awhile. Mounted 2 102' masts with a balun copied from GM3SEK using 2 #43 cores to address common mode currents. 2:1 bandwidth >1MHz. Hung vertical in a tree. Bottom is about 30' from the ground. Every once in a while I lower it to check for moisture in my "water proof box" for the balun. Had to build it just cause.

I have a question to all those out there....."Has Anyone Ever Made 11 Meter Dipoles And Used Them ?"....Would like to hear if anyone has made them and used them...... I did back in the day had 2 one going "North And South One Going East And West" had pretty good luck with them at 35 feet to feed point.

I run a Maco V5/8-5000 as my omni but run two dipoles a vert and a horizontal. I need a tuner bc they are not easily accessed for tuning trimming etc (I suggest dialing them in and not needing a tuner). However I find myself on my vertical dipole more than the Maco and the V5/8-5000 is mounted 25' higher ! Both of my dipoles are 12or14awg? stranded copper running to a pvc home depot center feed ! I have been talking tons of skip on the vert and using it to talk local as well ! The horizontal is the only antenna I have ever talked to the U.K. and New Zealand on from New Jersey , but to be fair its rare compared to skip on the vert ! I must have moved the first one 10-12 times from flat to inverted V to L to inverted L and they all have their positives ! If you have the freedom to stretch it all over the yard/driveway/attic whatever take your time and spend a night in each configuration ! If limited time and access I say go for a vert ,mine is a 12' piece of plastic wire conduit screwed 25' up in a dead tree with the reflector leg hooked to paracord to a bungi cord and a metal curb stake in my lawn lol and I cant believe the DX contacts I have made !! My horizontal is on 6" gutter nails (insulated) standing 3-5" off of my longest gutter that runs east to west .

Just go for it , have fun with it !! Tell us and share pics of what works out best ! There are a million guys with A99's and old-school Cross-Bows and even 3/4 & 5/8th wave omnis that would love to hear your pros and cons !

Oh and my only real important 2cents , If running a vert or horizontal make sure the feed coax comes off at a hard 90 degree angle ! With the L and V it didn't matter much but with flat or tall wires they like the feed perpendicular to the direction of the pole! Not the easiest to accomplish in some installs but certainly helped me get the swr down !

Also worked this setup with 2 Mr Coilys and A Simpson Tie from Lowes !! with sheetrock screws into a 4X4 laundry pole lol Enjoy !

(y) I also used a Simpson tie. Much cheaper than buying the MFJ dipole mount. Also made a gound plane using one Firestik as a vertical and two as radials pointed down at 45 degrees. It worked good too!

So far I can say the A-99 has worked better than I expected it would I have made contacts to Europe, Canada, Jamaica, with it just being less than 25 feet at first now its 10 feet higher the only con I can say about the A-99 is brings a little more noise sometimes that I find annoying (And With The Problems That The Max-2000 Is having I Dont Think I would purchase One)....I did have back in the day a Super Penetrator 500 large antenna but was one of the best I ever owned only Con I can think of is its size and weight and assembly took longer.....Another antenna I really liked was the Astroplane didnt have any Cons on it. The Signal Engineering Golden Rod 180S light weight under 3 pounds could go up to 50 feet at feed point and still be legal.

OP:
I made an 11m vertical dipole from 2 108" ss whips. (another) Simpson Tie, with a 90deg mobile stud mount. Dropped a bolt into the mount and threaded a 3/8 coupler for the counterpoise whip. Four other holes fit with u bolts for a mast (fiberglass).

-never done it before. nothing to compare to but; broad-banded 1.4:1 and 20w copies from ~500 miles away. Good reports on output.
Can't comment on it's ears, as i'm in a hole.
