Hello group,

All may comment but I reckon this is directed towards the site owners.

I've really enjoyed my time here. Having experience with other net radio related forum boards I sit back with admiration and praise for this site that has attracted a goodly following and has done a very good job moderation-wise, keeping a remarkably sane balance between "freedom of speech" and not letting things get too out of hand when a thread starts to get out of hand. Lots of great and knowledgeable folks here, and I've seen plenty of newbies receive help and great information get spread around. There's something good for everyone.

WELL DONE !!

So I've been here long enough that I figured it's probably time to chip in towards the operation.

From what I saw following the links in my user CP, it looks like the basic choice for "full subscription", membership...whatever, is $25 bucks a year.

In my opinion that seems a little high. There is also $15 for 6 months but I offer the thought that maybe other choices could be provided.

I'm laid off work right now with no next job in sight really. I'm not broke but am certainly having to not be extravagant with ancillary expenses. What I had in mind was more like $10

Anyone else feel the same way? Maybe many others would contribute also if the amount was less. Looks like the vast majority of forum users are not subscribers. Perhaps a lower amount might entice dozens of more folks to sign up. Could add up to a lot of bread!

Times are tough right now for both forum members and forum owners alike.

In financial times like these sometimes we all have to buckle down and make sacrafices.

The yearly cost for someone currently out of work would seem high to me also.

The truth of the matter is you don't need to pay the membership fees to enjoy this forum. Nothing is kept from you as far as content.

I would be willing to purchase a lifetime membership if they were made available. That may be something to think about Moleculo.

Bump, Can some others contribute more comments possibly? Thanks

I was unemployed for five months and recently went back to work. I now make half as much as I used to, times are tough for sure.
I just donated a month or two ago with income tax refund money. That's when I bought my new antenna too. Otherwise, I wouldn't have done either.
I've noticed that some other non-radio related websites have a "whatever you can afford" policy, with a small token in return, (logo decal, bumper sticker, etc.) perhaps that would be something to consider.
That's my 2 cents.;)

What about this.

For 6 months membership.

$10.00, free bumper sticker.

$20.00,free tee shirt.

For one year membership.

$40.00, tee shirt and hat.

$80.00, tee shirt and hat + access to a hidden section of the forum to talk about anything and maybe certain privileges allowed to the member as well. Of corse you would have to have a hidden section in order to do this but for $80.00 it may attract more members and there for put more money into the pockets of the site owners.

Now for a life time membership.

You could do a life time member ship for a fee of what ever you think is fair that would offer all the above perks + one more thing. When someone pays the life time membership fee maybe the site owners could give them a nice Silver Eagle D-104 mike. On the head of the mike you could have the sites logo engraved, then the members name engraved around the base of the mike. I would think that this would be a nice perk to those that become life time members and would attract many to do so.

I may be off the mark here but this is just something that popped into my mind after reading this post.

What's your point Mack?

I'm not interested in buying that radio. Just asking a question that someone else is going to ask and seeing that the seller didn't mention the extras. It's called doing friends a favor.

Smell ya later

I myself am not interested in any stuff although some folks might want the goodies.

I just want to donate something towards the operation of the forum but $25 is too high for me right now just to see my user name turn from black to green and to have the ability to edit my posts in the for sale forum.

I really don't think I'd be willing to pay $25 for that even I had a good job making plenty of money. Opinion

It's just too much for green name and edit privileges in one forum.

So how much moolah

is the site missing out on because many guys may think $25 is too much?

But these same guys might just help out with $10 if that is what it was. I'm just thinking all those $10's can add up to a whole lot vs. very few $25 givers.

Just trying to do what I think I can do to help the site, not inciting any riots folks.

The concept of the premium memberships originally was to not only help support the site, but also provide some additional privileges. Part of the privileges where going to be contests for premium members with prizes from manufacturer sponsors. That never really panned out at planned, so I didn't really publicize the memberships very much.

I may try to come up with some gift ideas for premium members, but I would have to think up something that is cost effective. As I've said in the past, I'm not actively asking for donations for site support, but it certainly is appreciated.

Anyway I have adjusted the contributions a bit. The amounts are now $5, $10, $15, $25, $1000 :D . All contributions will show a 1 year paid subscription, except for the ridiculous one. This way you can donate whatever you feel like.
