Trashy people ? Damn ! You ever wonder why many Hams after so many years on cb decided to switch to Ham ? 
but wait a minute here ! They may have went to Ham , but the smell followed them.
CB in any era , Trashy people ? might be harsh , but what would you call a bunch of people feeding on gossip and bullshit , day in and day out ? The Egotistical channel 6er's ? The 16 to 32 pill users day in and day out ?
RF on the brain ! been there done that . Trash doesn't always add up for say , you know , like trailer trash is what it is but yet it is still a figure of speech. But at least many had shown there true colors weather they lived in a trailer or a 2 story house , they either lived in the getto or in a nice well to do community. Trash was everywhere , just depended on how you looked at it.
Weather you lived in the getto or somewhere else much nicer and cleaner,weather you ran 5 watts or 5000 watts , "trash" and the cb radio basically added up to "attitude" and
behavior
of given operators.
25 years in the cb radio hobby and I too have been a piece of the trash that lerks within. I am what I am, but at the same time , IM everywhere I go . If I were a Ham , and I was trash on the cb , would I now be less trash there ? ........I think not in my case as well as so many others whom only "think" they changed there attitudes. In so many ways , they only became better pieces of trash , not all , but many.
This all depends on how "one" looks at it. I too like vintage porn , does this make me a pervert ? or maybe perverted ? I think it does , but it's a personal thing for my own self gratifacation. In the end , it's all just much ado about nothing. IM own worst enemy and in the end , I will be judged by my own actions and not somebody else's.

Nice finds BTW. That switch is good for many,many kilowatts.It looks like it was designed for either 1 5/8 or maybe 3 1/8 inch EIA inputs and has 7/8 inch adapters on it.That cable looks like 7/8 cable,maybe Andrew LDF5-50?

But that's kind of the thing about trash , trash is usually not trash to the folks that like to spew it out all over the place or when ever they get the chance. I would guess depending on the internals, wether its a BIG vacuum relay or not it should be good for 15kw or so.
Probably a little more at 27 MHz. Spec on that switch is 14.4 Kw at 54 MHz. Power rating goes down as freq goes up so it should handle at least that much at 27 MHz,probably closer to 20 Kw at least. Most like a bit more.

Basically most ham operators came from the ranks of CB
( nothing wrong with that ) although most will not admit it (oh well)
Over the years (i have been a CBer since about 1972) i have spoken to countless people..both cbers and hamsters..
You know what though....
There are Great people both in CB ad Ham

There are Plenty of Dummies Both in cb and ham..

To me...CB as well as Ham radio is simply part of the larger hobby of two way communications (which by the way these days also includes FRS/GMRS and MURS .. both are fairly new comers to the hobby and one can also likely consider scanner listening as well)..
Isn't the point of all two way communications (as well as scanner listening) to Enjoy using such equipment,as well as being able to help (if and when needed for emergency happenings) not just yourself but family,friends,neighbors and the community your in..
