DX949 channel mod ?'s

Went to the local flea market today and picked up a Galaxy DX949 for $20. Radio is hooked to a pyramid 18amp power supply and a imax2000 for testing purposes and has been found to be about 1watt swing to 6 watts low rf power and 5 watts swing to about 17-18 on high rf output. seems radio has been peaked and it is on frequency. This is my question...If I do the p5 p6 channel mod for extra channels do I need to have the radio re aligned after or will it still remain on frequency? I don't want to do the channels until I have the $ if it requires a retune. Thanks to all in advance for all your help.

It is usually the unlocked clarifier mod that requires re-alignment for the pll; not that channel mod

Galaxy Channel Expansion.

Hey BammBamm,did you got to expand the rig's channels?
I got the Galaxy DX 979 and its supposedly the same radio w/o the freq. counter and echo, However i tried to do the P5 P6 mod, but the channel display light went out...upper channels came in though, so i belive connections are not the same. I have tried to find an accurate instruction to mod my rig w/o changing the pll which is a RANGER 8719-99. some say its modifyable, some say it's not...still looking for Knowledge about that!!
