Eagle Tomahawk help programming memory

Hi all, I have an Eagle Tomahawk I just got, it's a nice little radio but in the manual it is not clear how to program any frequencies in the memory or if in fact you can do that. I would like to program a few channels in memory so I can recall them when I want to use them, is anyone familiar with this, perhaps I am not smart enough to do it. Hopefully someone is familiar with the radio? Thanks for any help. Adam

Most of those types your pressed func button then memory button then one of the 1 through 5 button locations.

Hi, thanks for the fast response. It did work HOWEVER when I turn the radio off then on they are gone so wondering what I can do to save it? Thanks, Adam

That’s weird - it’s possible that radio used a backup battery for memory. It’s been 15 years since I owned one so my memory fails me. You could take off the case and look at the front board and look for a watch size battery - if it had one.

so I found a page for the albrecht 497 where it says that a capacitor that is undersized causes the memory to fail after a few days on older models and to upgrade capacitor.

Wow Big Kahuna, you are a super nice guy to go out of your way to help. I actually saw that page a little earlier and e-mailed Normsweb and waiting for an answer. I really can't see how that can work as the memory does not hold for a second but who knows, maybe if that capacitor went bad it could be the cause. Anyway, we shall see. Thanks again! Adam

Hi, I spent quite a while removing the front panel to be able to unsolder the old cap and replace it with the recommended one. Sadly it did not help at all. Oh well, Adam

It was worth a try, perhaps someone her eon the forum more familiar with that series has some additional input. IMO the memory channels were the only good thing about that radio, I was very impressed with any of the various versions.

Radio has other issues I find, AM does not have PLL lock and several other issues. Also it does not always turn on. Back it goes.
