Early eBay bids?

Please tell me how shill bidders get into a bidding war against each other? A shill bid is a bid that is placed on the behalf of the seller to raise the price. A person that is NOT working on behalf of the seller to raise the price is not a shill. There are people who bid on items to raise the price but do not really want to buy that item as they may have the same item for sale so they raise the price of all the similar items, but they must be careful they don't win.

Only a moron would pay $344 for a Grant XL that may or may not work. No refunds and sold as is.
The clarifier is unlocked so the radio is no longer NEW and has been modified.
The auction is suspicious to say the least.

I sold an old Ten-Tec shortwave receiver on ebay. Can't recall the final price, but several people mustv'e had a bid war. It went WAY more than it was worth. I felt bad, so I shipped it free. Some people are dumb. I miss the ebay days where you could see bidders and even message them.

I have seen the same "NOS" Cobra 148 GTL auctioned by the same seller 4 times.....and yes the winning bidders had 2 or less feedbacks. The average winning bid was always between $350 and $450.
Maybe the scam sellers should NOT show a picture of the back of the radio, where the serial numbers are in each auction because some people actually do their homework.

If someone wants a NOS Grant XL, I have one left and can be yours for $344!

It was a "Private Auction" in which the bidder's names are not displayed except to the seller after the auction is over. You also cannot see who you are bidding against.

I can understand a private auction for bidding on plutonium or pornographic movies, but that's about it.
