Guying.
It depends entirely on how much support is needed by the pole (and what's on it), and how much is provided by the house. Guying any pole is a good idea! That's more a mechanical property than anything else. It's very seldom that there's ever too much guying, it's just good sense, you know?

I just put up my 30' pushup pole.
What I did was took 2 -1 1/2" x 3' metal pipes and drove them in the ground with the push up pole sandwiched in the middle and drilled a hole through all and put a rod through.
I had the 30' pole with the 18' antron 99 antenna lying on the ground and just stood it straight up quick and easy.
