EBAY SELLERS

Realistic TRC-443

Just got my newest batch if NOS radios. This is a NOS Realistic TRC-443 made in 1996.
Checking the 443 out and it's just as the ebay seller described which is NOS and never used. Got it hooked up and it's working normally for a Stock Realistic. Power is within specs along with modulation. Got a good radio report on it.
On this radio in order to turn up the modulation X3 has to be disabled. I don't know what X3 is. Another website says to adjust RV450.
It takes a Galaxy stock hand mic. The Xtreme 2018 made it squeal but the 2018's output gain might be set too high. I bought this OBO which was $16

Realistic TRC-430

This Realistic TRC-430 was made in 1988. The ebay seller described this radio as new, never been used and never removed from box. The seller gets a D- because it has been used for a short time as the only marring on it is from when the mounting bracket was attached and the radio was allowed to swivel. Otherwise the radio looks brand new. The power and ground wires show that it was hooked up at some time. One wire has a bullet connector crimped on it while the battery and memory wires were cut. Whoever used it did a long time ago on account that some of the styrofoam radio end piece packing is stuck on the radio. It came with it's stock mic which has channel up/down buttons on top. I hooked it up and it looks like it's running good.

Correction:Upon closer examination, the faceplate has scratches on it. When I pulled the covers on it to adjust the modulation, both external and pa jacks show signs of being used for a long time. Although it's a mostly clean radio,it's been moderately used. The up/down channel buttons on the mic hang up and send the radio into a fast scan mode until I wiggle the buttons to get it to stop.

Someone's been a bad boy or girl!
Both the battery and ground wires have been snipped and the accessory power wire has a aftermarket bullet connector on it. My thoughts are if the seller should have been responsible to check out the radio just to see what condition it's in instead of "the person who sold me it told me it's new, never been used".

Update:!!! I just contacted the seller about the issue and within five minutes the sent me an apology and a full refund, shipping included. The seller told me that they bought it from someone who told them that it's new and never been used. :D

This radio does a a AMC control pot.

GE 3-5813B

This is NOS. on the radio's faceplate it says 'Mic Power Amplifier'. The meter has fairly good forward swing good modulation and even has a place on the mic to put your call sign. Motor Mouth Maul sounds real good on the receive but a CB'er 6 miles away with he's modulation cut loose sounds loud and awful. It's got a louvered speaker grill directed towards the front. I like the receive audio.
I really like this radio!
Original purchase date:12/80 from Consumer's Distribution,Brooklyn,NY

Royce 1-604

Last but not least the Royce 1-604 is NOS and prettier than the pic of it on ebay. Right out of the box it whistle's 115% modulation but talks about 70%. I may have to adjust the modulation like I just did for the GE 3-5813B
Nice!

Meter light glows red in key down. The camera doesn't show it as well though.
I think the modulation needs adjusted to get my average peaks turned up.

Ok. I adjusted the modulation but I still think it can benefit from a power mic set at modest settings.

Even if it's NOS,I think the heat sink grease needs replaced with new grease.

All in all,I like the GE 3-5813B the most. After that comes the Royce 1-604 because it's a beauty but needs properly caressed in the hands of a master tech to realize it's full potential. The TRC-443 has a classics look to it and is a Cobra 25 dressed in Realistic skin. The Royce and the GR are keepers.

P.S. the majority of Ebay sellers do care about their rating and are fast to act on any complaints. The seller who sold me the TRC-430 gave me a refund and told me to keep it.

Now ,does anybody know what X3 is? It's in the TRC-443
