emperor ts-5010

there very good ssb radios. there one of my favorites . 300 is a little more than id pay unless its in mint condition then maybe.there ok on am but not a audio monster like a connex or general lee

Just don't blow the final either. A local here just had his fixed and the mrf477 final is $60.00 from RF Parts. Great sounding radio on SSB.

Thread from the dead.
I had 5010 for a while it worked just fine but I liked my Lincoln better so I traded it away.

The 2510/Lincoln had a better build quality to me than the 5010.
A lot of people did not like the LCD display , RF/ Signal meter or the way the frequencys were laid out on all of these radios or they would have been even more popular back in the day.

I don't like that there's no RF gain and (you're correct) the frequency layout how especially when you scan or go up and down in channels or frequencies it doesn't go on the .5's it goes on the even 0's which I understand is common in ham use not 11 meter use, and that GOD AWFUL BEEP EVERY TIME YOU TAP A BUTTON!!! I WISH THERE WAS A WAY TO SHUT THAT OFF!!! I KNOW HOW TO SHUT OFF THE ROGER BEEP BUT THAT BEEP WHEN USING THE OTHER BUTTONS SUCKS!!

I had a 5010 at one time and I kinda liked it. It held up decent in my 1st truck and talked well. Heck... I even had the 3010 version. Like, 20 yrs ago. HATED that rig. Sent it to Solder Joint in Cali for an oscillation repair in the RX audio. Never was fixed. CPU clock speed noise I was told. No thanks, so down the road she went.

Bought my 5010 new back in the day. My first 10/11 export type rig. Never ran it mobile much mostly base. At my old qth I ran a variety of verticals throughout the years.. A99s to V58s to Imaxs at around 70 ft to feed point. Open fields all around, away from town. The 5010 along with a 4 pill worked great especially ssb. Ran a D104 on it most of the time if I remember.. stock mic sucked. Had so many good contacts and memories with this radio I couldn't bring myself to sell it off.. now it's a shelf queen. 20190413_105433.jpg

Outstanding! At one time, I had like 5 or 6 off em! Most I got with problems and repaired them. I only have 3 now...LOL

My original one I got, had the stupid "out of control volume" problem show up in the faceplate. Some enameled wire and a few cuss words later, (like 3yrs later), got it fixed up with new switches from Yaesu.

Now on to replacing that stupid bad filter in my VX-6R.... (I just found out about the fix a month ago!) LOL

i have a ts-5010 what would you be willing to pay it stopped transmitting but other than that works great
nothing now, since I posted I acquired a Yaesu ft1000mp and Kenwood ts-50s and a RCI 2950 along with 2 Ameritron amps but I am using my Emperor on a daily basis with a D&A Phantom triple stage and a solarcon a-99 so I'm equipt pretty good since I posted
