With the Coronavirus and Social Distancing affecting all of us this year, no doubt many hams will be letting this year's Field Day Group Outing slide. Many will still make an effort to conduct a Field Operation while taking precautions. I don't have a really local group to participate with, so I will be operating a 1 Station from home. I was hoping that the ARRL would have amended their rules for this year and allowed (D) Delta station (home stations on commercial power) to contact and score each other .... but not so. After all, it would hopefully be only a 1-year change and for Scoring Purposes ... it is just a contest after all. Anywho, Iike many guys, I have a generator and will be operating 1 E (emergency power), that way any other station including D's can contact me and get their point score. Same for me, although I don't report a score when operating from home, doing it just for the radio exercise. What are your thoughts?

I'm always kind of in Field day Ops. My radios run on batteries 100% of the time. The only component that's not is my Ameritron AL 811h. It runs on 120vac, and could be put on line using my honda generator.
I respect all field day operators, and teams. Go field day. Have fun next month, and may the contact God's be kind to you.

A friend who we shall call the coax fairy dropped by not only a lot of coax to me but a Zamp Solar panel. It put out 22 volts on a sunny day. I bought a charge controller this week and have the panel and controller charging up a battery I happened to forget to return for core charge when I bought a new battery for my vehicle. The battery will be pushed into service for field day. I know it isn't a deep cycle battery but for the few bucks it cost me I will use it happily.

I hope to hear you. I need Idaho for my WAS. LOL. 73 DE W4MKC.
Our club will be working a POTA next Saturday. We usually begin noon Mountain time. Parks are open in Idaho and we have all decided we are going to just enjoy ourselves and not get to wiggy about recent stuff. Just have a good time and promise not to shake hands and pass out kisses or hugs. :p

http://www.arrl.org/news/temporary-rule-waivers-announced-for-2020-arrl-field-day

Field Day rule 4.6 defines Class D stations as “Home stations,” including stations operating from permanent or licensed station locations using commercial power. Class D stations ordinarily may only count contacts made with Class A, B, C, E, and F Field Day stations, but the temporary rule waiver for 2020 allows Class D stations to count contacts with other Class D stations for QSO credit.

In addition, for 2020 only, an aggregate club score will be published, which will be the sum of all individual entries indicating a specific club (similar to the aggregate score totals used in ARRL affiliated club competitions).

Ordinarily, club names are only published in the results for Class A and Class F entries, but the temporary rule waiver for 2020 allows participants from any Class to optionally include a single club name with their submitted results following Field Day.

For example, if Podunk Hollow Radio Club members Becky, W1BXY, and Hiram, W1AW, both participate in 2020 Field Day — Hiram from his Class D home station, and Becky from her Class C mobile station — both can include the radio club’s name when reporting their individual results. The published results listing will include individual scores for Hiram and Becky, plus a combined score for all entries identified as Podunk Hollow Radio Club.

The temporary rule waivers were adopted by the PSC on May 27, 2020.

The ARRL Field Day web page includes a series of articles with ideas and advice for adapting participation this year.

this is really my first June field day. I'm operating as 1E. I have a question. Should I only target other field day qso's or do all contacts count for points?

Forgot to come back and follow up. All I have is 10meters but that worked out fantastically. 10 was open good both days. Band also quiet - very low noise. From my spot in Dixieland, worked 160 stations going north to Canada, NW to S. Dakota, W to Colorado and S to Puerto Rico. Good times
