I see these all the time on ebay. Called Fire wire power supplies. Where do they come from. Id post this under the power supply section that we used to have. ahem. ?? all info would be appreciated.

I took a look and didn't find anything, do you have a link or item number?

I can tell you that I'm happy with my MFJ Mighty Lite power supply. It's a 20A continuous rated switching supply. Small and light and works for about $110 or so. I also have an Astron 50 as well. Just depends on what you are doing.

What are you planning to use the supply on?

How many amps does it draw though? That's your key. You want a supply to handle that continuous rated.

are you looking for a regulated supply ? if so the fire wire is not i talked to the man that makes them they are not. how many pills do you want to run ? what brand of amp? i might be able to help u out . the iota supply is an awsome piece but a bit difficult to repair for the average tech. not that they have much failure but it can happen.

If it were me, I would get a regulated supply big enough to run my radio alone, then find one of those big, high-wattage buck/boost transformers that sell so cheaply (20-40 dollars) on Ebay and add a couple large diodes and a few filter caps to it to make a nice 16-18v unregulated supply for my amp. I have one similar to that from which I can draw about 130 amps or so.
